The theme of this CMET2010 China International Medical Electronics Technology Conference is portable and home medical electronics. How do mixed-signal semiconductor products achieve high performance in the application of medical device products? There are mainly three parts, one is MCU, i.e. microprocessor, the other two are SMPS and RFID , and the surrounding technology supports the entire medical device. Medical functions include: detection, monitoring care, medical treatment and other aspects. The products are reflected in electronic thermometers, heartbeat, blood pressure, pulse detection, as well as blood sugar and body fat detection, blood oxygen content detection, osteoporosis detection, and ultrasound, defibrillator and other home medical equipment. How to achieve high performance of the product? First, highly integrated, fast and accurate computing power; second, easy to carry and small size. The third is safe and stable power supply. Some ultra-low power products, such as hearing aids, have very high requirements for power consumption. There are also high-speed wireless connections and intelligent identification, mainly focusing on information sharing and information dissemination.

Usually we use 8-bit/16-bit microprocessors to consume a lot of computing resources to process filtering, interpolation, noise reduction, spectrum analysis, demodulation, etc., but now 32-bit microprocessors have stronger capabilities to realize more functions, including the use of built-in floating-point operations. NXP, based on its understanding of the market and the development trend of the entire medical electronic equipment, has put forward the following requirements for microprocessors: First, high-budget performance. The second aspect is low power consumption. In the process of product development, the requirements in this regard are becoming more and more stringent, as well as peripheral devices, such as Ethernet, USB, etc., as well as ITC performance, product reliability, and the most important of which is the electrostatic protection device.

NXP's latest 32-bit microcontroller technology advantages

The frequency of NXP M3 microprocessor can reach 100 MHz. It has added a lot of memory to drive IE frequency and peripheral functions, including OTG, USB OTG, QEI, CAN, etc. The main purpose is to enable users to smoothly transition to Cortex-M3. In addition, the M3 microprocessor is powerful and has simple instructions. It is much simpler than traditional microprocessors and can be developed using the RM platform.
