LED (Light Emitting Diode) was recognized as the terminator of fluorescent tubes, light bulbs and other lighting equipment after its birth in the 1960s. LED lamps are also called light-emitting diodes. Compared with other light sources, the power consumption of a single LED lamp is the smallest.

LED light sources are composed of many grid-shaped semiconductors, and each "grid" has an LED semiconductor, so LED backlights have successfully achieved planarization of the light source. Planarized light sources not only have excellent brightness uniformity, but also do not require complex light path design, so that the thickness of the LCD can be made thinner, while also having higher reliability and stability.

Secondly, in terms of luminous life, LED backlight technology has surpassed CCFL and is an improvement of CCFL technology. The life of ordinary CCFL backlight is basically around 30,000-40,000 hours, and the life of some top CCFL backlight sources (WCG-CCFL) is about 60,000 hours. Such a life can last for several years even for frequent users. The life of LED backlight is even longer. At present, the life of white LED backlight is as high as 100,000 hours. Even if it is used 24 hours a day, its life can be enough for 5 years.
