As the LCD market continues to mature, LED TVs are becoming mainstream. Although the only difference between current LED LCD TVs is the backlight source, the picture quality has been greatly improved. This "new" category of flat-panel TVs is likely to replace traditional LCD TVs.
LED ultra-thin and colorful
As we all know, LED has a narrow light spectrum and good color purity. When interpreting movie scenes, LED LCD TVs are eye-catching. Even in a bright environment like a store, they can still clearly show the details. According to the author's understanding from many aspects, this is related to the LED backlight source itself. Due to the backlight characteristics of LED, the color saturation of LED TVs is very high and the color range is very wide.
Moreover, edge-entry LED LCD TVs can be much thinner and lighter. This also allows LED LCD TVs to save power consumption to a greater extent than ordinary LCD TVs. At present, manufacturers such as Samsung, LG, Konka, and Hisense have launched edge-entry LED TV products.
How to choose screen size
Large size is the inevitable development trend of flat-panel TVs, but what size is reasonable? The most taboo when buying a TV is subjective will, thinking that the bigger the better. If everyone buys a 42-inch one, then I will also buy a 42-inch one, otherwise I will feel "outdated".
It is most reasonable to choose the size according to the size of your personal living space. Of course, the size of the space mentioned here mainly refers to the visual distance (the distance between the human eye and the TV screen). TV needs to be watched for a long time. Temporary makeshift or awkward will cause visual fatigue over time, which will affect physical health over time.
LCD panel selection
LCD panels can be divided into hard screen and soft screen according to display technology. Soft screen mainly refers to VA panel, while hard screen is the well-known IPS panel.
In terms of performance, IPS hard screen has fast response speed, excellent motion picture, stable picture quality, wide viewing angle and good cost control. The biggest feature of IPS panel is that its two electrodes are on the same surface, unlike other liquid crystal modes where the electrodes are arranged in three dimensions on the upper and lower surfaces. However, since the electrodes are on the same plane, the liquid crystal molecules are always parallel to the screen regardless of the state, which will reduce the aperture ratio and reduce the light transmittance. Therefore, IPS application on LCDTV will require more backlights. To a certain extent, the power consumption is higher.
Does LCD TV consume a lot of electricity?
LCD TVs are different. They emit light passively, and the brightness of the screen depends entirely on the backlight tube. The backlight is always on regardless of whether the scene is bright or dark. The power consumption of LCD TVs is a constant value, and the nominal power is also the actual power when it is used. The application of new energy-saving technologies has enabled LCD TVs to have light-controlled sensors, so to some extent, LCD TVs will be more energy-efficient.
Do LCD TVs have a long lifespan?
It is rather one-sided to say that LCD TVs have a longer lifespan than plasma TVs. The two should be discussed separately: although the lifespan of liquid crystal materials can be said to be infinite, the lifespan of liquid crystal materials is not equivalent to the lifespan of the entire LCD TV. During the use of the LCD panel, pixel dead points or bad points may occur due to damage to the liquid crystal drive tube, and these points cannot be repaired. The lifespan of an LCD TV, the so-called 60,000 hours, refers to the lifespan of the backlight tube. With current technology, the backlight tube cannot be replaced alone, and if it is to be replaced, it must be replaced together with the backlight tube.
