Bourns introduces new standard DC surge protector that meets IEC Class I and
Class II and can protect DC power systems up to 1500 VDC
Bourns® 1430 and 1440 Series SPDs feature high energy MOV technology, built-in thermal cutouts, are DIN rail mountable and provide a high level of protection
August 23, 2024- Bourns, a world-renowned leading manufacturer and supplier of electronic components for power, protection and sensing solutions, has launched the 1430 and 1440 series DIN rail mounted DC surge protectors (SPDs) . The two new series of SPDs are designed to protect DC power systems and comply with IEC/EN 61643-31 standards Class I + Class II / T1+T2. Bourns® 1430 and 1440 series offer a protection voltage range from 48 VDC to 1500 VDC and use high-energy MOV technology. In addition, the 1440 series is equipped with an advanced thermal circuit breaker (TD+) to provide a higher level of protection and help eliminate the need for upper-level overcurrent protection. The two series launched this time have a replaceable modular design, including window fault indicators and remote alarms to enhance the monitoring of the operation of the surge protector.
Bourns® 1430 and 1440 Series Surge Protective Devices (SPDs)
Bourns' new SPDs can help designers reduce the risk of thermal runaway caused by sustained overvoltage and surges, thereby avoiding fire hazards. The new SPDs provide excellent surge protection, with each mode capable of withstanding surge energy up to 80 kA 8/20 μs and providing pulse current capacity up to 12.5 kA 10/350 μs. The Bourns® 1430 and 1440 Series are ideal protection solutions for a variety of DC-powered applications such as electric vehicle charging stations, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and green photovoltaic and wind energy systems.
Bourns® 1430 and 1440 Series SPDs are now available and are fully RoHS* compliant.
