Protects consumer electronics equipped with Type-C ports from CC/SBU overvoltage, short circuit and ESD strikes
Beijing, China, August 10, 2023 – Littelfuse Corporation (NASDAQ: LFUS) is an industrial technology manufacturing company dedicated to powering a sustainable, connected and safer world. The company announced the launch of a multi-functional circuit protection device - the latest member of the electronic fuse protection integrated circuit product line LS05006VPQ33.
LS05006VPQ33 electronic fuse protection integrated circuit
This new electronic fuse protection integrated circuit uses an innovative design to protect the USB Type-C port from short circuits, overvoltage and electrostatic discharge (ESD). LS05006VPQ33 is a highly integrated protection integrated circuit suitable for Type C PD Vbus and CC/SBU short circuits with 28 Vmax and 8 KV IEC -61000-4-2 ESD capabilities. Watch the video.
The electronic fuse LS05006VPQ33 protection integrated circuit is ideally suited for use in a variety of USB Type-C applications, including:
Laptop
Desktop computer
Monitor
Industrial computers
Point of sale
Smartphone
Tablets , and
USB Type-C PD docking station
Bernie Hsieh, APM of Littelfuse's Protection Semiconductor Business, said: "LS05006VPQ33 is an extension of Littelfuse's electronic fuse protection integrated circuit solutions. It is the company's first electronic fuse to provide 20 V short circuit, overvoltage and system ESD protection for signal pins. LS05006VPQ33 has Higher reliability, longer life, lower maintenance costs and compact product size. It can also be used with the LS2406ERQ23 electronic fuse for Vbus 20 volt, 5 amp protection.”
The LS05006VPQ33 design addresses critical issues in USB Type-C controllers, protecting low-voltage silicon circuitry from overvoltage, short circuits, and ESD strikes. Many USB Type-C products do not comply with the Type-C specification, and some only offer 20 V to Vbus adapters, which may cause short circuits due to pin issues, twisting, or moisture. Without protection, downstream low-voltage circuits may be damaged. S05006VPQ33 protects downstream low-voltage circuits from overvoltage and IEC61000-4-2 ESD impacts.
In addition to higher reliability, longer life and lower maintenance costs, the LS05006VPQ33 offers other competitive advantages. Compared to other solutions on the market, the product supports higher Vmax values (28 V) with its 8 KV ESD contacts, as well as higher ESD ratings in the SBU. These advantages make it a reliable, efficient USB Type-C port protection solution and an excellent choice for electronic engineers.
