The 200 V device is only 0.88 mm thick and features a solder-friendly side pad package for improved thermal performance and higher efficiency
MALVERN, Pennsylvania, USA, Shanghai, China — June 21, 2023 — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. recently announced the launch of four new series of 200 V FRED Pt® ultra-fast recovery rectifiers-1 A VS-1EAH02xM3, 2 A VS-2EAH02xM3, 3 A VS-3EAH02xM3 and 5 A VS-5EAH02xM3, which are packaged in a thin, easy-to-adsorb solder side pad DFN3820A package . These four new devices provide space-saving and efficient solutions for commercial, industrial and automotive applications, and each product has a Vishay automotive grade AEC-Q101 certified version.
The recently released Vishay Semiconductors rectifier is the first to use Vishay's new Power DFN series DFN3820A package, which occupies an area of 3.8 mm x 2.0 mm and has a typical thickness of only 0.88 mm, which can more effectively utilize PCB space. At the same time, the device's optimized copper material design and advanced chip mounting technology can achieve excellent thermal performance and can operate at higher rated currents.
The VS-1EAH02xM3, VS-2EAH02xM3, VS-3EAH02xM3, and VS-5EAH02xM3 are 12% lower than SMP (DO-220AA) package devices of the same footprint, while offering double the current rating . In addition, the rectifier current ratings are equal to or greater than the larger traditional SMB (DO-214AA) and SMC (DO-214AB) packages, as well as the eSMP® family of SlimSMA (DO-221AC), SlimSMAW (DO-221AD), and SMPC (TO-2778A) package devices.
The devices are suitable for high-frequency inverters, DC/DC converters, freewheeling diodes, clamping and snubber circuits, polarity protection, and LED backlighting. Typical automotive applications include electric vehicle (EV) and hybrid electric vehicle (HEC) dual voltage injection drivers, piezoelectric drivers, engine control units (ECU); advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), LiDAR, cameras, anti-lock braking systems (ABS); and 48 V power systems, chargers, battery management systems (BMS). In addition, rectifiers can improve the performance of industrial automation equipment and tools, consumer electronics and appliances, communications, and medical equipment.
The VS-1EAH02xM3, VS-2EAH02xM3, VS-3EAH02xM3, and VS-5EAH02xM3 offer less than 1 μA reverse leakage and an operating temperature range of -55 °C to +175 °C, while the forward voltage drop is as low as 0.71 V, helping to reduce power consumption and improve efficiency. The solder-friendly side pads of the DFN3820A package facilitate automated optical inspection (AOI) of solder joints, eliminating the need for X-ray inspection. The rectifiers are ideal for automated pick-and-place processing, with a moisture sensitivity level (MSL) of J-STD-020 Class 1 and a maximum LF peak of 260 °C. The devices are RoHS-compliant and halogen-free, and the matte tin-plated leads meet JESD 201 Class 2 tin whisker testing requirements.
Device Specifications:
The new DFN3820A packaged FRED Pt ultra-fast recovery rectifier is available now for sampling and production quantities, with lead times of 12 weeks.
