M12269 supports PD3.1 and other fast charging protocols, 140W step-up and step-down 3-8 cell multi-string lithium battery charging and discharging mobile power management IC solution
introduction
In the process of continuous iterative upgrades of fast charging technology, the shift from low power to medium and high power charging is the most obvious. The supported fast charging power has moved from the initial 7.5W to a maximum of 240W. The launch of the PD3.1 protocol further helps fast charging accelerate towards medium and high power. Three new fixed voltage levels have been added: 28V (100-140W), 36V (140-180W) and 48V (180-240W) corresponding to charging applications of 6 batteries, 8 batteries and 10 batteries respectively.
Multi-cell lithium batteries are very popular in electronic products, such as outdoor power supplies, power tools, fascia guns, air pumps, high-power power banks, etc. This type of electronic product generally comes standard with a dedicated charging adapter, and chargers for different types of electronic products cannot be used universally. USB PD 3.1 will promote the iteration from traditional adapter charging to PD fast charging, and will help simplify charging circuit design, reduce overall costs, reduce electronic waste, and improve the charging experience.
Shenzhen Yongfukang Technology Co., Ltd. is now taking advantage of the trend to promote a 3-8-cell buck-boost 140W lithium battery charge and discharge management SOC-M12269 that supports mainstream fast charging protocols such as PD3.1/QC3.0. This chip is a dedicated SOC for high-power mobile power applications with 3-8 string cells. It integrates a synchronous step-up and step-down voltage converter, battery charge and discharge management module, display module, and power calculation module, and provides a maximum input/output of 140W. Power, supports mainstream fast charging protocols such as PD3.1, QC3.0, AFC, FCP, SCP, BC1.2 DCP, etc., and provides complete protection functions such as overvoltage/undervoltage, overcharge/overdischarge, and overtemperature. The packaging form is QFN-48 (6.0×6.0mm, 0.5mm pitch). With simple peripheral circuits, a high-power single-channel multi-port (C+A+A) mobile power management solution can be formed.
