Shanghai, China, June 7, 2022 – Farnell Newark, the global distributor of electronic components products and solutions under Avnet, is now stocking Panasonic’s latest series of chip resistors that offer high power ratings in a small package.
The global resistor industry continues to focus on providing higher power ratings in smaller package sizes in order to optimize components and achieve miniaturized designs, while maintaining performance even in the harshest environmental applications. Panasonic's latest series of chip resistors have twice the power rating of traditional thick film resistors, enabling design engineers to achieve higher power ratings of high voltage resistors while reducing package size, thereby saving PCB space.
The Panasonic innovative chip resistor series available from element14 includes the following six products:
• The ERJH* series can be derated for operation in high temperature environments up to 105⁰C, helping to achieve high power while reducing size. The ERJH* series resistors have a maximum category temperature of 175⁰C and a maximum rated category temperature of 105⁰C. It ensures that the resistors can withstand 1000 thermal shock tests by improving solder crack resistance. The ERJH* series has a power de-rating of 0.1W - 0.5W and case sizes of 0402 – 0805.
• ERA*V/K series high precision thin film resistors have excellent stability, low resistance tolerance and higher voltage than conventional thin film resistors. Compared with existing products, this series of resistors has higher rated power, limited component voltage and maximum overload voltage, and can maintain high reliability and high stability in high temperature and high humidity environments. Case size 0402 - 0805.
• The ERJP series resistors have twice the power rating of conventional thick film resistors and have ESD surge characteristics similar to standard metal film resistors. This series of resistors improves heat dissipation by optimizing the resistance pattern, resistance material and electrode design, thereby achieving high power ratings of 0.20W - 0.66W while being miniaturized. Case sizes are 0402 – 1210.
• ERJPM series high voltage precision resistors have higher power ratings than conventional thick film resistors and are suitable for high voltage environments with a limiting component voltage of 500 V. The ERJPM series is available in a 1206 case size with a resistance range of 1.02M - 10MΩ.
• ERJB/D series wide terminal resistors have ultra-high power ratings and high solder joint reliability compared to traditional thick film resistors, suitable for small size, high power current sensing, and can also be used as low-cost shunt resistors. Case sizes are 0508 – 1020, and power ratings are 0.33W - 2W.
• ERA*A series thin film chip resistors are high precision, high reliability resistors that provide high accuracy and low resistance tolerance and low TCR. Its high reliability design ensures stable performance in high temperature and high humidity environments. Case sizes are 0201 – 1206.
All products in this series are AEC-Q200 compliant, contributing to the miniaturization and lightweight design of new products (except ERA*A).
Simon Meadmore, Vice President Product and Supplier Management at Farnell and element14, said: “Panasonic’s innovative chip resistors offer the highest power ratings in the smallest case sizes. The resistors feature a unique soft termination which ensures high reliability in the harshest environment applications. This range of resistors is a perfect addition to our IP&E product range and will help our customers improve product performance and speed up time to market.”
Panasonic Industry Europe GmbH is a subsidiary of Panasonic Group, focusing on the development of automotive and industrial products , and is one of the top five suppliers in the global passive component market. The company offers a diversified product portfolio covering electronic components, devices and modules, as well as complete solutions and production equipment for production lines in various industries. Panasonic Industry continues to develop leading resistor technology to achieve the highest rated power and smallest case size to meet the needs of harsh environment applications.
Panasonic’s latest range of chip resistors is available now from Farnell (EMEA) and element14 (APAC).
