In recent years, with the surge in global power-consuming devices, power supply technology has been constantly innovating and iterating. However, although technological breakthroughs have made great progress in the efficiency of power supply products, the problem of large energy consumption when electronic products are in standby mode has not been effectively solved. Therefore, the demand for reducing standby power is still full of challenges. In response to this, WPG launched a 60W high-efficiency ultra-low standby power consumption power supply solution based on the Infineon ICE5GSAG device.

ICE5GSAG is the fifth generation fixed frequency PWM controller launched by Infineon . It is optimized for offline switch mode power supplies in cascade configuration, which helps to achieve fast startup of the power supply and is suitable for standby power products under the flyback architecture. And the product itself can be used with MOSFETs of different Rds-on levels to meet the design of different output wattages and increase the flexibility and versatility of the product in design. In addition, ICE5GSAG has built-in multiple protection functions, so it can support the power system even in the event of electronic product failure.

With excellent performance, this solution can effectively reduce power consumption in standby mode. And with the help of various circuit protection functions integrated in the ICE5GSAG device, the solution can reduce the number of surrounding circuit components. In addition, since the ICE5GSAG can work in high-frequency mode, the size of magnetic components is further reduced. Thanks to these advantages, this solution has the characteristics of high efficiency, low cost and small size. In terms of safety, it complies with the US Energy Efficiency Regulations DOE and the EU CoC Energy Agreement specifications.
Core technology advantages:
Provide high-efficiency standby power supply applications;
Average efficiency can reach 87.41%@230Vac and 86.85%@115Vac;
Standby power consumption can be less than 100mW@230Vac;
With various protection functions such as brownout/input overvoltage/overcurrent/overtemperature/output short circuit protection/CS short circuit protection/Vcc short circuit protection.
Program Specifications:
ICE5GSAG is designed with a fixed frequency of 125KHz, which can meet the needs of reducing size and increasing power density;
It has two-stage adjustable active burst mode entry and exit points;
Built-in Line OVP function to prevent other components from being damaged by excessive input voltage;
The jitter function can significantly reduce the impact of EMI;
It will automatically detect whether the Vcc pin is short-circuited during startup to avoid abnormal IC operation.
