On June 16, 2022, WPG Holdings, a leading semiconductor component distributor dedicated to the Asia-Pacific market, announced that its subsidiary WPI has launched a 240W dimmable power solution based on the ONSEMI NCL2801+NCL30076 chip .

In the past two years, with the introduction of the "dual carbon target" strategy, local governments have successively issued a number of guiding policies in the industrial field, aiming to vigorously promote energy-saving and emission reduction technologies and energy-saving transformation of traditional production processes and scenarios. Based on this background, LED light sources have ushered in huge development opportunities in the field of industrial lighting with their excellent energy-saving effects and longer service life. With the continuous popularization and application of LED lighting systems, high-power dimmable power supplies are also occupying an increasingly important position. In response to this, WPG World Peace has launched a 240W dimmable power supply solution based on Onsemi NCL2801 and NCL30076 products, which can help customers reduce R&D costs and easily realize the development of high-performance, high-power industrial lighting power supply products.

ONSEMI's NCL2801 power factor controller is designed for LED lighting applications. It uses a small SO-8 package, provides optimized line current THD (total harmonic distortion) performance and high efficiency, and has a wide range of protection functions to ensure robust operation of the system.
The NCL30076 is a DC-DC step-down controller that reduces the dimming range to 1% through analog dimming control to mitigate audible noise and flickering of PWM dimming. And its proprietary LED current calculation technology can achieve accurate constant current throughout the analog dimming range. In addition, the multi-mode operating system of the NCL30076 provides high efficiency and minimizes switching losses through QR at heavy loads, and deep analog dimming through DCM at light loads.

Onsemi has been deeply involved in the lighting industry for many years and has rich product and technical experience, which can empower the development of the LED lighting industry. The 240W dimmable power solution jointly created by Onsemi and WPG provides customers in the industrial lighting field with a method that combines high performance and high cost performance, enabling them to stand out in the increasingly competitive market environment.
