GaN Systems, a gallium nitride supplier, will showcase a variety of products developed by the company at PCIM Europe 2022. GaN Systems will showcase solutions for smaller, lighter and lower-cost power electronics and help customers save more electricity. GaN Systems' products and technologies can be used in data centers, industry, automobiles and Hi-Rel.
Data Center: Power supplies developed using GaN Systems transistors have twice the power density of traditional PSUs, saving up to 20% in energy efficiency in data centers. Products on display include SoluM's 2700W high power density power supply. Meeting the 80plus Titanium standard, 82W/cubic foot power density and a small size of 185 mm (compared to 265 mm for traditional products) achieve breakthrough performance. Also available is Compuware's 3kW PSU, which has 50% more power than the previous 2kW PSU of the same size. GaN Systems will showcase its 3kW BTP-PFC and 3kW LLC converter evaluation kits to help customers get to market faster. When used together in a design, it exceeds the efficiency requirements of 80 PLUS Titanium. GaN Systems' new technology solutions also include a range of thermal management solutions that reduce thermal resistance by 90%.
Industrial: Factory and industrial motors, street and commercial lighting, and transportation are the largest energy users. Motor drives, lighting, and electrification require energy efficiency and cost savings. On display will be Signify’s revolutionary Philips LED bulbs, with built-in GaN Systems-based drivers that enable lower-cost, higher-power, more energy-efficient LED lighting solutions, and GaN-based drivers from Siemens’ Simatic Micro-Drive product line, which provide higher efficiency and faster motor response time. In addition, several DC-DC and inverter products for electric vehicles will be on display to show the advantages of GaN Systems in e-bikes, scooters, etc.
Automotive: GaN Systems ensures automotive-grade reliability through its AutoQual+ qualified commercial products, and has also received investments from BMW, Toyota, Vitesco Technologies and USI. In automobiles, GaN is designed for on-board chargers, traction inverters and DC-DC converter applications. GaN Systems' exhibits will include Canoo's on-board charger (OBC). In addition, all-GaN traction inverters and BrightLoop's electric racing DC/DC converter products will be displayed. In addition, a series of high-power GaN module designs using the latest packaging technology will be exhibited.
HiRel: Aerospace, avionics, spaceflight, and some industrial and scientific applications have unique requirements for system designers. Trouble-free operation and long life under harsh mechanical, thermal, and radiation conditions are absolutely necessary. Through cooperation with Teledyne HiRel Electronics, GaN power transistors can provide space-grade power for efficiency, size, and power density, and HiRel's advantages, including propulsion systems, power conversion and control, distribution and transmission systems, recently, Teledyne and GaN Systems released their new 650 V, 60 A GaN HEMT, which has passed rigorous screening tests and can achieve NASA's full compliance with Level 1 according to customer requirements.
