Surface mount white LED devices for LED lighting
Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announced the launch of two new surface mount white light LEDs in two package versions --- VLMW321xx LED and VLMW322xx LED. In order to maintain a wide range of pin compatibility with similar devices, the VLMW321xx LED provides 3 anodes and 1 cathode, and the VLMW322xx LED provides 3 cathodes and 1 anode.
These devices are packaged in PLCC-4, and the optimized lead frame reduces thermal resistance to 300K/W, and the power dissipation is up to 200mW, which enables the device to use up to 50mA of drive current, making the brightness twice that of Vishay's high-brightness SMD LEDs in PLCC-2 packages. VLMW321xx and VLMW322xx LEDs have passed the AEC-Q101 automotive standard and can be used in automotive applications. The device is cast in silicone resin to extend its service life.
These high-brightness LEDs can be used for traffic lights and indicators; indoor and outdoor lighting; in-vehicle and exterior lighting; indicator lights and backlights for home appliances, toys and game consoles, and mobile phones; camera flashes; and general lighting for retail and window displays, emergency lighting and signage, and lighting for museums and showrooms.
VLMW321xx and VLMW322xx use high-efficiency InGaN technology, with a luminous intensity of 1400mcd to 3550mcd and a luminous flux of 7000mlm to 8900mlm. The half-intensity angle of these LEDs is 60°, the luminous intensity ratio of each packaging unit is less than 1.6, and the individual packaging units are classified according to the luminous intensity and color.
These lead-free and RoHS-compliant devices are packaged in 8mm tape and reel and can be soldered using infrared reflow, vapor phase and wave soldering processes in accordance with CECC 00802 and J-STD-020, and are preconditioned according to JEDEC Level 2a. These LEDs can withstand ESD voltages up to 2kV (HBM) in accordance with JESD22-A114-B.
