Study on statistical techniques for IEC specification of LED module performance

Based on the basic theories of mathematical statistics and probability theory, this paper analyzes the mathematical statistics principle of using samples to infer the population for the two parameters of module power and luminous flux in the IEC PAS "Performance Requirements for LED Modules for General Lighting" which is being drafted. It reveals that the IEC PAS uses the sample mean as an unbiased estimate of the population mean, realizes the assessment of the population mean of LED module power and luminous flux, and gives the confidence interval and confidence level of the corresponding mean.
