Enhanced testing capabilities for battery discharge and charge at continuous constant power levels and added power priority
Keysight Technologies has announced two new models that expand its regenerative power system family, supporting 20kW and 30kW power options at 500V. In addition, the version also enhances power priority, allowing users to program the output power at the zero point when switching between positive and negative.
Keysight Technologies Expands Regenerative Power System Solutions to Support Electric Vehicles and Renewable Energy Systems
As electric vehicles (EVs) and renewable energy systems continue to evolve, the need for powerful test equipment becomes increasingly important. The 500V model enables engineers to implement higher current and power solutions to support a wider range of applications, including agriculture, residential energy storage, and battery-powered solutions for compact transportation such as e-scooters, e-bikes, and motorcycles.
The Keysight RP7900 Series regenerative power supply system is a family of bidirectional regenerative DC power supplies with highly integrated safety features. The regeneration capability enables normally consumed power to be cleanly returned to the grid, saving costs associated with energy consumption and cooling.
Key benefits of the Regenerative Power System range include:
-
Achieve smooth transition: It is easier to switch between sourcing and sinking current without affecting the output characteristics of the power supply.
-
Enhanced Safety Protection: Solid-state output disconnect switch provides fast protection and smooth on/off transition when a fault is detected.
-
Flexible voltage and current combinations: The autoranging feature provides a wide range of voltage and current combinations within a single power supply, allowing engineers to adapt to fluctuating test requirements without having to change equipment.
-
Improved test speed: With a command processing time of less than 1 millisecond, the solution improves test throughput, enabling engineers to get results faster and increase efficiency.
-
Ensure high-precision testing: Parallel voltage and current measurement capabilities provide high-precision and resolution testing, allowing engineers to confidently validate their designs and optimize performance.
"The ability to test electric vehicle batteries is critical to supporting future innovation," said Michael Reser, director of e-mobility at Keysight's Automotive and Energy Solutions division . "At Keysight, we are committed to providing the tools needed to build better batteries faster while ensuring performance and safety. By expanding our product line to 500V testing, we are continuing to achieve this goal while supporting a wider range of use cases to keep pace with the rapidly evolving electric vehicle market."
