The concept of power quality
Power quality refers to the quality of the power in the power system. Ideally, the power should be a perfectly symmetrical sine wave. Some factors can cause the waveform to deviate from the symmetrical sine wave, which results in power quality problems. On the one hand, we study what factors can cause power quality problems, and on the other hand, we study what problems these factors can cause. Finally, we study how to eliminate these factors so that the power can be as close to a sine wave as possible.
The harm of harmonics
Harmonics are very harmful. Harmonics reduce the efficiency of electric energy production, transmission and utilization, cause electrical equipment to overheat, generate vibration and noise, and age insulation, shorten service life, and even cause failure or burnout. Harmonics can cause local parallel resonance or series resonance in the power system, amplify the harmonic content, and cause capacitors and other equipment to burn out.
