Keysight Technologies offers remote access lab solutions for online learning tailored to industry needs
Provide remote setup of basic instrument laboratories to create a better teaching experience for educators and students
Beijing, China, October 29, 2021 - Keysight Technologies, Inc. has launched a new remote access laboratory solution designed to enhance the online learning experience through remote settings of basic instrument laboratories. The solution includes Internet laboratory management and time scheduling software, which allows you to remotely access the laboratory and control instruments to complete measurement and analysis tasks. Keysight provides advanced design and verification solutions designed to accelerate innovation and create a secure and connected world.
Blended learning methods are now widely accepted in the education industry, and remote solutions are in short supply as a supplement to classroom learning. The advent of online courses and remote learning allows students to choose their learning methods flexibly, but it also requires educational institutions to transform as soon as possible to adapt to new trends.
Keysight's industry-friendly remote access laboratory solution will enable university teaching laboratories to smoothly transition to online learning. Students can remotely access laboratory instruments and perform experimental operations through an Internet browser.
Keysight's remote access lab solution includes the following key components:
• PathWave cloud-based remote access laboratory software, an IMS Global-certified LTI learning tool that supports learning management system (LMS) integration and provides students with single-point, secure, synchronized, cloud-based remote laboratory access and instrument control capabilities anytime, anywhere, while allowing educators to manage student access to the laboratory, systematically maintain laboratory workstations, and monitor multiple remote laboratory courses.
• PathWave Lab Management Software, which provides easier, centralized lab configuration and asset management capabilities, as well as the ability to perform bulk updates of instrument firmware.
• The U3900DAQ switching system, which meets many switching and routing requirements in teaching labs, giving students full remote access to industry-standard instruments and a hands-on test and measurement experience.
"Keysight's remote access lab solutions will accelerate the education industry's shift from traditional classroom teaching to hybrid learning, including virtual courses delivered remotely through digital platforms," said Boon Juan Tan, vice president and general manager of Keysight's General Electronic Measurement Group. "Keysight's new solutions enable our customers to incorporate remote learning into their digital transformation of the future, enabling students to move from traditional teaching and simulation to real-world learning experiences remotely."
Keysight's remote access lab solutions offer several benefits that can significantly improve educators' teaching experience and students' learning experience:
• Easily and seamlessly migrate engineering labs online, providing the necessary components to transform traditional classroom instruction and hands-on labs to be completed in a remote environment.
• Easy, centralized user access and content management system integration with LMS enables educators and students to seamlessly find university resources, creating a smooth, consistent and better teaching experience.
• Accelerate success by connecting to industrial-grade test and measurement instruments, enabling students to experience the software and technologies they will use in their future jobs.
• Enable educators to interact closely with students and promote real-time team collaboration to achieve smart teaching.
• Centralized control enables seamless connection, management, monitoring, and troubleshooting of lab instruments, making overall lab management simpler and more optimized, allowing lab managers and educators to focus on teaching.
University of California, Santa Barbara selects Keysight's new industry-specific remote access lab solution to build new photonics lab
The University of California, Santa Barbara, a leading teaching and research center in the United States, chose Keysight's new remote access laboratory solution to move its undergraduate optoelectronics laboratory online.
"Keysight's industry-friendly remote access lab solution has been integral to the rollout of our first-year photonics lab, bridging the gap between hands-on labs and students participating remotely," said Daniel Blumenthal, professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara. "The solution provides an efficiently managed hub from which students can participate remotely and learn. Students can control computers and instruments in the lab and make video calls using lab teaching assistance software for a complete active learning experience."
