As a commonly used instrument for electrical measurement, digital source meters can be found in almost all relevant laboratories in universities and research institutes. Source meters integrate multiple meters into one and can realize various customized measurements when equipped with professional software. They are widely used.
There are many types of digital source meters. Taking the KEITHLEY brand under Tektronix as an example, there are several major source meter product lines:
Keithley source meter hot-selling model KEITHLEY2400 series:
Models include: 2400, 2450, 2401, 2410, 2420, 2440, 2460, 2461, 2470, etc., which are widely used in components and module manufacturing in communications, semiconductors, computers, automobiles and medical industries.
KEITHLEY2400 is a classic source meter with a long history. We can make an analogy that KEITHLEY2400 is the WINDOWS XP in the source meter industry.
With the development of materials and semiconductor technology in recent years, researchers have put forward new requirements for source meters, that is, the measurement must be not only accurate but also fast. As a product that uses chips and technologies from more than ten years ago, KEITHLEY2400 has gradually failed to keep up with the measurement speed.
Tektronix/Keithley responded to market demand and promptly launched graphical SUMs, including 2450, 2460, 2470, and 2461, which quickly became the new favorite of scientific researchers with their extremely high cost-effectiveness (touch screen control, direct support for USB and LAN communications, no need to separately configure expensive GPIB communication cables, large storage space, new Lua command system, and abundant application cases).
Keithley Source Meter KEITHLEY2600B Series:
These models include: 2601B, 2602B, 2604B, 2606B, 2611B, 2612B, 2614B, 2634B, 2635B, 2636B, and two high-current and high-voltage source meters 2651A and 2657A.
The 2600B series source meter is a product line with high precision among KEITHLEY source meters. Since the series is equipped with dual-channel models or even four-channel models (2606B), one instrument can complete the test of three-terminal devices such as BJT and FET. It is very convenient to use and flexible to operate. For scientific researchers who are interested in purchasing a semiconductor characteristic analyzer (4200A) but have insufficient budget, KEITHLEY2636B+ test software is a good choice. If you need to test the CV curve, you can purchase an LCR meter for integration.
