Texas Instruments (TI) recently released a new customized version of the PSpice® simulator from Cadence Design Systems. This version gives engineers the freedom to perform complex analog circuit simulations for TI power and signal chain products. PSpice for TI provides full-featured circuit simulation, including a growing library of more than 5,700 TI analog integrated circuit (IC) models, making it easier than ever for engineers to evaluate components for new designs. Many hardware engineers face an increasing need to produce accurate designs within tight project timelines. Failure to reliably test designs can result in significant and costly delays to production schedules, making simulation software a critical tool in every engineer’s design process.

Kevin Anderson, head of Omdia’s power, automotive and industrial semiconductor practice, said: “Choosing the right simulation software can help engineers accelerate development, successfully complete designs, and even break through the original design bottlenecks. Therefore, intuitive tools that include system-level simulation capabilities can shorten development cycles and accelerate time to market.”

Leveraging Cadence's advanced simulation technology, PSpice for TI enables designers to fully verify system-level designs before prototyping, thereby reducing the risk of circuit errors, which goes beyond the analysis capabilities of many other simulators on the market. In addition, TI provides engineers with access to one of the industry's largest integrated circuit model libraries that can be automatically synchronized into the tool.

Easily verify designs with full-featured simulation of the entire system

With PSpice for TI, engineers can build complete schematics without size constraints using a built-in library of TI power and signal chain models, as well as PSpice analog behavioral models, enhanced primitives, and new capabilities for power designers through configurable power field-effect transistors and power diodes. Advanced capabilities of PSpice for TI also include automated measurements and post-processing, as well as the OrCAD Capture framework and worst-case analysis, which enable engineers to fully verify their designs across a wide range of operating conditions and device tolerances with just a few clicks of the mouse. After completing verification of an analog design in PSpice for TI, users can open the design in the commercial version of PSpice Designer and then transfer the design to other Cadence printed circuit board (PCB) tools such as OrCAD/Allegro PCB Designer without having to recreate their schematics. You can learn more about these key features in the technical article, "How to Simulate Complex Analog Power and Signal Chain Circuits with PSpice® for TI."

Prototype faster with integrated design resources

Synchronous updates of the model library can shorten the time spent on product evaluation without the need to manually import the latest TI models. In this tool, users can also quickly access TI data sheets, product information, reference design test circuits, and related search queries in the TI E2E™ Chinese support forum - through this connection, engineers can get the documents and expertise they need to easily select, simulate and purchase TI products that meet their design needs.

“Cadence PSpice is a trusted validation simulator for power supplies, IoT devices and other electronic products in a wide range of markets, including healthcare, aerospace and automotive,” said Tom Beckley, senior vice president and general manager of the Custom IC and PCB Division at Cadence. “Our continued investment in PSpice and collaboration with TI aligns with our Intelligent System Design strategy, enabling TI customers to simulate their system-level designs faster, reducing development time and accelerating time to market.”

Availability and Pricing

PSpice for TI is now available for free download. Customers can register the tool using their myTI account. Once registered and downloaded, users have immediate access to its built-in model library for 5,700 products.
