The double-gun oscilloscope has two independent electron guns to produce two beams of electrons. There are also two independent deflection systems, each of which controls a beam of electrons to move up and down, left and right.

The fluorescent screen is shared, so two different electrical signal waveforms can be displayed on the screen at the same time, and the dual-line oscilloscope can also be realized by using a single-gun dual-line oscilloscope tube.

This oscilloscope tube has only one electron gun, which relies on special electrodes to separate electrons into two beams during operation. Then, two independent deflection systems in the tube control the two beams of electrons to move up and down and left and right, respectively.

The fluorescent screen is shared and can display two different electrical signal waveforms at the same time. Due to the high manufacturing process requirements and high cost of the two-wire oscilloscope, its application is not very common.
