Qualcomm's booth at the 2022 China International Fair for Trade in Services
The CIIE is the largest comprehensive exhibition in the field of global trade in services. Since 2020, it has become a major platform for China to build global consensus and open up to the outside world. Qualcomm's active participation as a multinational company demonstrates its strategy of being rooted in China and developing in the long term, and its confidence in the long-term improvement of the Chinese economy. Hou Mingjuan, global vice president of Qualcomm, said, "Qualcomm has a long history with the CIIE and has participated extensively in many aspects of the CIIE for three consecutive years. With cutting-edge technologies such as 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), and extended reality (XR) as highlights, the exhibition showcased a number of innovative technologies and product services brought together with Chinese partners. We look forward to making full use of this platform to explore win-win cooperation in the future of digital connectivity with more industry organizations and partners, and share new development opportunities in domestic and foreign markets."
Metaverse Experience Leads the Innovation and Application of Digital Services
Qualcomm's booth at this year's CIFTIS is located in the digital services area. As an indispensable part of the digital future, 5G is still the protagonist throughout Qualcomm's booth this year. Under the vision of "Intelligent Connection of All Life", Qualcomm's booth is themed "Together, We Connect to a Green Future", showcasing the latest applications and industry cooperation results enabled by 5G, leading visitors to experience an innovative, connected, and green digital future.
5G Boundless XR Empowers Beijing Workers’ Stadium’s “Workers’ Stadium Metaverse”
The popularization of 5G technology has brought opportunities for the development of AI and XR. The high speed, low latency and high reliability supported by 5G will greatly promote the popularization of XR. At the same time, AI technology will further enhance XR services and applications. At the booth, the boundless XR enabled the display of the "Workers' Stadium Metaverse" at the Beijing Workers' Stadium , breaking through the boundaries of digital and real integration and bringing the boundless XR experience to tens of millions of consumers.
The demonstration was jointly realized by Qualcomm, China Mobile, and Sinobo Group, the operator of Beijing Workers' Stadium (Workers' Stadium). Through the deep integration of separation rendering technology and 5G slicing technology, the Workers' Stadium was moved into the metaverse. The demonstration at the booth showed the application effect of this new technology. Visitors can wear virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display devices and become football goalkeepers in the real world to compete with football strikers in the metaverse for penalties. This is also the first time that this demonstration has appeared at large-scale exhibitions at home and abroad. Visitors wearing lightweight head-mounted display devices can appreciate the metaverse experience with binocular 4K image quality and latency as low as 20 milliseconds.
The 5G-enabled industrial metaverse experience is equally exciting. At the booth, Qualcomm demonstrated the head-mounted augmented reality (AR) glasses jointly created with Realwell , which accurately superimposed the guidance of remote experts on the field of vision of front-line workers through AR technology, fully demonstrating how to use head-mounted devices to solve the problems of the last mile of Industry 4.0 and digital transformation. As a demonstration, on-site visitors can use this technology to assemble a coffee machine by hand: Put on AR glasses, a "3D manual" will appear in front of you, and it can be easily completed in just a few steps.
Whether it is the new metaverse experiences that are about to enter our lives and industries, or the technological services that people are accustomed to, they are inseparable from the breakthrough inventions of Qualcomm scientists. At the booth, the stories of three Qualcomm inventors attracted visitors to stop and watch. The outstanding contributions made by these inventors in the fields of 5G, Wi-Fi, video encoding and decoding have laid the foundation for people's good technological experience in the mobile Internet era.
Helping Chinese partners innovate with leading technology
Every year, there are always leading Chinese mobile phone brands in Qualcomm's booth. The new flagship lineup shows the vitality of Qualcomm's long-term cooperation with Chinese mobile phone manufacturers: this year, 16 domestic smartphones equipped with Snapdragon 8 and Snapdragon 8+ mobile platforms appeared at the booth, bringing the latest Android top flagship experience. At the same time, Qualcomm also demonstrated the results of its strategic cooperation with National Geographic China. The film "My Hometown in China" played at the booth recorded the mysterious Chinese endemic species with domestic 5G mobile phones equipped with Snapdragon mobile platforms, telling a life story that belongs to China. Ecological protection requires the attention and action of the whole society. Qualcomm's cooperation with National Geographic China has entered its third year , and it has always used the power of technology to awaken people's yearning for a green future. This strategic cooperation result was also unveiled in the Innovation Service Achievement Exhibition Hall of this year's CIFTIS.
In addition, Qualcomm specially demonstrated the Snapdragon digital chassis solution, based on which Qualcomm's industrial collaboration with China has expanded to the automotive field. Based on the unique set of technology combinations provided by the Snapdragon digital chassis, Qualcomm is cooperating with all major global automakers to help accelerate the evolution of intelligent connected vehicles, and has brought intelligent connected experiences to 150 million vehicles worldwide.
