TDK introduces a high-performance 6-axis IMU with industry-leading motion sensor performance for IoT, robotics, AR/VR, and wearable applications.
External clock input improves system-level performance
19-bit gyroscope resolution improves slow-motion sensing accuracy
2x better temperature stability minimizes motion drift
40% lower noise figure for enhanced sensor responsiveness
TDK has introduced the InvenSense ICM-42688-P high-performance motion sensor, a 6-axis MEMS MotionTracking™ device that combines a 3-axis gyroscope and a 3-axis accelerometer in a 2.5mmx 3mmx 0.9mm package. The device supports high-precision motion sensor applications such as robotics, wearables, drones, and other IoT devices.
Compared to traditional consumer-grade IMUs, the ICM-42688-P has a 40% lower noise figure and 2x better temperature stability, ensuring that any motion event is measured with the highest accuracy regardless of temperature changes. The ICM-42688-P also includes two key innovations that other consumer-grade IMUs cannot achieve: a 100% external precise and accurate RTC reference clock (which eliminates timing errors;) and a high-resolution analog-to-digital converter. This converter can increase the resolution of the gyroscope by 8 times and the resolution of the accelerometer by 4 times. Other industry-leading features include the InvenSense on-chip APEX motion processing engine for gesture recognition, activity classification and pedometers, as well as programmable digital filters and embedded temperature sensors.
“It’s all about performance, and TDK continues to deliver on that promise with best-in-class gyroscope stability over time and temperature, and proprietary integration technology for real-time response and content synchronization,” said Amir Panush, CEO and general manager of InvenSense. “The ICM-42688-P is designed for our Tier 1 and channel customers who care more about high accuracy and best-in-class sensor performance.”
In addition, TDK provides a comprehensive development platform DK-42688-P and the necessary software to help achieve rapid time-to-market development of customer systems.
Features of DK-42688-P:
Single board provides an out-of-the-box experience
Comprehensive software tools to help accelerate evaluation and development
o MotionLink™ and embedded motion drive (eMD)
On-board embedded development tools to assist with code development
Only 15 minutes of preparation time
