Magewell's Pro Convert series of hardware-based, feature-rich products - NDI® encoders - made their debut at the NAB show and achieved great success. The products not only received enthusiastic attention and good feedback from customers, but also won the "Best Exhibit Award" from TV Technology magazine under Future plc.
Magewell Pro Convert series products use NDI technology developed by NewTek, an American company, to help users transmit traditional baseband video signals to real-time, IP-based live production or AV workflows. Pro Convert encoders support ultra-low latency conversion of HDMI or SDI input signals to full-bandwidth NDI streams. The product is plug-and-play (PnP) and very easy to use.
The Pro Convert series offers different encoder models that support 4K and HD, allowing users to flexibly choose product models based on encoding resolution and input signal interface type. The Pro Convert HDMI 4K Plus encoder supports up to 4K60 UHD NDI streams via the HDMI 2.0 interface, while the Pro Convert SDI 4K Plus encoder supports up to 4K30 IP network streams from 6G-SDI signals. The two HD encoders - Pro Convert SDI Plus and Pro Convert HDMI Plus - support the conversion of input signals to 1080p60 HD IP network streams. At the same time, Pro Convert HDMI Plus also supports 4K60 HDMI signal input, automatically down-converting to HD signals for encoding.
Magewell demonstrated the decoding function that will be added to the Pro Convert Plus model at the NAB show. By providing a free value-added firmware upgrade for the encoder, the encoder will also have the decoding function. Users can use the encoder's web management backend to flexibly switch between encoding and decoding modes, decode NDI streams into high-quality HDMI or SDI signals, and output them for display on digital signage, large screens, IMAGs or display devices.
Future's "Best of Show Award" is evaluated by a panel of professional engineers and industry experts, and is strictly selected based on product innovation, functional characteristics, cost-effectiveness and product performance. The winning products will receive special reports in TV Technology magazine, which is an authoritative journal in the field of digital television and focuses on reporting on the development of broadcasting, live production, post-production, corporate activities and new media markets.
“Now in its sixth year, the NAB Best of Show Awards are celebrating the industry’s most innovative products at the million-square-foot NAB Show,” said Paul McLane, Future’s director of content management. “The 2019 Best of Show Awards winners and nominees represent the future of media technology.”
"TV Technology magazine has awarded Magewell's Pro Convert series the 'Best of Show' award, which is a high recognition from the industry and we are very pleased to receive this honor," said Zhou Xin, Magewell's sales director. "This product can help users connect their existing equipment to IP-based workflows without replacing existing HDMI or SDI equipment, helping more users switch to IP production solutions in an economical and feasible way."
