Don’t work on the core network!
As we all know, communications is a very large industry with a wide range of product categories.
Faced with so many products, it would be very confusing for new entrants to choose a direction.
Xiaozaojun has an opinion for everyone today——
If you can choose, don't choose the core network!
As a veteran who has worked in the core network for 10 years, Xiaozaojun is here to tell you today that the core network has many pitfalls!
First of all, the core network is really
difficult
!
In terms of difficulty, among so many product directions in communications, if the core network is ranked second, no one would dare to claim to be the first!
Do you think that building a core network is as simple as making phone calls , sending text messages , and surfing the Internet ?
First look at calling and texting——
It's easy to make a normal phone call, so I won't say much.
But have you heard of call waiting? Have you heard of call forwarding? Call forwarding is divided into unconditional forwarding, busy forwarding, no answer forwarding... Do you understand all of these? Do you know how to configure data?
Do you know how to configure the data for three-party calls? Do you know how to configure conference calls? Even the users themselves don’t know whether this service is good or not.
How do prepaid phones work? How do you configure data? How do intelligent network business processes work? Do you understand?
Will the SMS service be available? What about MMS? What about ringtones? What about one-click copying of ringtones? Are you confused?
There are dozens or hundreds of bureau-directional connections and hundreds or even thousands of signaling links and traffic links. Do you dare to say that you will not make a mistake in the configuration?
Do you understand the tens of thousands of records in the number analysis? Have you matched all the special numbers? Have you matched the local numbers, remote numbers, ISDN numbers, and international numbers? Have you added the number prefixes? Have you done the number changes? Have you checked the GT analysis?
Local calls local, local calls foreign calls, foreign calls local, local prepaid calls local postpaid calls, local postpaid calls foreign prepaid calls, foreign prepaid calls local postpaid calls... Have you remembered all these business processes?
I finally learned SS7, understood ISUP/TUP, and distinguished IAM, ACM, ANC, REL, and RLC, but now everything is IP-based! SIP! I learned it in vain! Why is it so difficult to get a " 200 OK "?!
Do you think surfing the Internet is easy?
Although to put it simply, the core network is just a switch, it is much more complicated than the switch at home!
IP, port, VLAN, VRF, OSPF, and control plane and user plane? There are hundreds or even thousands of data plans, and I am confused! What? There are service IP and floating IP? What the hell is floating IP?
What is the difference between a bearer, a default bearer and a dedicated bearer? What is the difference between a radio bearer, an S1 bearer and an S5/S8 bearer? What is the difference between a GBR bearer and a Non-GBR bearer? Do you understand?
Do you know the difference between IMSI, TMSI, M-TMSI and S-TMSI? Do you know the difference between MCC, MNC, TAC, TAI and TA? What is APN used for? What are APN-NI and APN-OI used for?
What is policy-based billing? What is traffic management? What is cache acceleration? Isn't it just surfing the Internet? Is it really that complicated? Can we still have fun?
We said we would fully enter the 4G era! Why is 3G still here?! 5G is coming soon, but 2G hasn't been retired yet! I just want to make a living, but I have to learn 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G all at once! My phone switches from 4G to 2G, then 2G to 3G, then 3G to 4G. I can't count the switching scenes. I'm too tired to complain, right?
Who told me that 5G activation is easy? If you come forward, I promise I won’t beat you to death! Network flattening, NFV one-click activation, unattended operation, they are all lies! Damn, it is not mature at all, there are so many problems, 4G took a week to get it done, and 5G took a month and the virtual machine is still not running! What the hell is slicing, I don’t understand it at all! Why don’t you just slice me up!
The core network is so difficult, do you think your salary must be higher than others?
dream!
The core network is a notoriously poor department. When signing contracts and selling equipment, wireless equipment is always sold for money, and core network equipment is given away as a gift. To put it bluntly, the core network is a gift. When it comes to sharing the bonus, you can only rely on others.
Boss, buy one get one free!
Others’ product training can be learned in about a week, but the simplest core network product training takes at least a month, and you still only know the basics. The key is that the salary for working in the core network is not more than others, and promotion is not faster than others, so who is willing to learn!
It’s hard to learn, and the money is not much, but the work pressure in the core network is really high . . .
A base station outage will only affect a few hundred people, at most a few thousand. If the core network goes down, hundreds of thousands or even tens of millions of people will not be able to make calls. If your hands shake and you enter a wrong command, don’t wait for your customers to strangle you, you can just bang your head against a wall and die.
Doing this job is like walking on the edge of a knife, and most people simply can’t handle it psychologically. . .
Xiaozaojun has been working on this core network that is feared by everyone and withered by flowers for ten years. . .
No reason, just because of
love
!
Core network engineers are at the top of the contempt chain in the communications industry, so they are definitely qualified to be awesome. . .
Core network engineers are all men worth marrying.
Because they are calm (core network, this car dare not flip over casually), because they are smart (stupid people can't handle such complicated things), and because they have good tempers (a dead pig is not afraid of boiling water). . .
After reading this, don’t you think that core network engineers are the ones who deserve the most care ?
Well, finally I want to say that -
I am a core network engineer and I am proud!
