Leifeng.com reported that Amazon Style, Amazon's first physical clothing store, officially opened on May 25.
Located in California, the store has already stocked new products from well-known brands and some new designers.
Amazon uses advanced technology to provide customers with an online and offline shopping experience. After entering the store, customers can use the Amazon app to scan the QR code to view the color, size and other information of any product.
When customers select products, they can record them through the application, and employees will deliver the corresponding products to the fitting room or checkout counter according to the records, so that customers no longer need to carry them with them, thus improving the shopping experience.
This is not the company's first foray into the physical business. Previously, Amazon has opened physical stores such as bookstores, convenience stores and unmanned supermarkets.
Amazon Style also provides personalized recommendations and curated selections with the help of algorithms. When customers scan the items they like and adjust their selections, the app will also recommend items that match their preferences.
An Amazon staff member said: "When customers enter the fitting room, they can not only see the products they have selected, but also other styles that suit their preferences." Customers can continue shopping in the fitting room, and Amazon will continue to deliver products to the fitting room for trial.
Brands such as Levi's, Tommy Hilfiger, Pavoi, CRZ Yoga, Champion, etc. are already available on Amazon Style.
Store employees will provide services to customers throughout the entire process, including delivering merchandise to fitting rooms, assisting customers with checkout, and more.
In addition, Amazon also allows customers to purchase products through online channels after trying them on in physical stores, and delivers products on the Amazon website to physical stores to make it easier for customers to try them on.
Knowing whether an item will fit when shopping online has always been a challenge in e-commerce, especially due to the high cost of returns for retailers.
In e-commerce, apparel returns account for 46.5% of all returns, according to Coresight Research.
When customers shop online, they often buy different colors and sizes of the same product at the same time, try them on and then return the items that don’t fit. Sellers engaged in e-commerce are already very familiar with this shopping method.
According to a report released by cross-border e-commerce RetailMeNot in early January, 38% of shoppers plan to return New Year gifts; international express delivery company UPS said it expects to handle more than 60 million return packages during the peak shipping season (November 14 to January 22), which is a record high for UPS.
The clothing store concept launched by Amazon uses technology to enable customers to benefit from the e-retailer's large inventory.
“Amazon Style uses the same technology and processes as Amazon’s fulfillment centers to stock more merchandise that can be delivered from the backend to customers in minutes,” the company said in an FAQ about the store concept.
In addition, this physical clothing store also uses technologies such as inventory management system, customer service technology and Amazon One for checkout.
