Avnet launches the latest Ultra96-V2 development board
Recently, Avnet, a leading global technology solutions provider, released the new Ultra96-V2 just one year after the successful launch of its Ultra96 development board, which powers industrial-grade artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) applications. Avnet's Ultra96-V2 is equipped with an updated radio module, enabling engineers to expand their business into new markets, and is an ideal platform for smart homes, automobiles, industrial control and many other applications.
"The Ultra96-V2 board provides engineers and makers with a competitively priced development platform to quickly prototype the next breakthrough in AI, IoT, robotics and beyond," said Bryan Fletcher, technical marketing director at Avnet. "We are proud to support the 96Boards program and bring new performance, exceptional power efficiency and programmable logic benefits to this community of Arm experts and enthusiasts."
The Ultra96-V2 enhances the capabilities of the 96Boards community with a range of peripherals and acceleration engines in the programmable logic that are not available in other products. Like its predecessor, the Ultra96-V2 is an Arm-based Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+™ MPSoC development board and is built on the Linaro 96Boards Consumer Edition (CE) specification. 96Boards is an open source development platform that can be used by system software developers for kernel programming of software applications, hardware devices, and operating systems.
Engineers can now expand the global market reach of their innovations with the new Ultra96-V2 feature, a Wi-Fi / Bluetooth radio module from Microchip that has received agency certification in more than 75 countries. Wireless options include 802.11b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 5 low energy support.
Avnet has also updated all components on the Ultra96-V2 to offer industrial temperature grade options, allowing the board to operate in harsh industrial applications. It also enables additional power control and monitoring using Infineon's integrated power management ICs (PMICS) designed to meet stringent board space requirements.
Ultra96-V2 enables 96Boards community members to explore programmable logic to accelerate software development. Software engineers’ C, C++ and OpenCL algorithms can be compiled to the FPGA portion of the Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC to achieve massively parallel computing capabilities and true high performance.
