Toshiba Launches Low-Input-Power-Consumption Type Voltage-Driven Photorelay in Industry’s Smallest Package – Contributing to Reduction in Equipment Size and Power Consumption of Test Equipment

Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation (“Toshiba”) today announced that it has started shipping the “TLP3407SR,” a new voltage-driven photorelay that helps reduce power consumption and achieves the industry’s smallest [1] mounting area.

The TLP3407SR has a maximum LED current limit of 1mA at input voltage, which is about one-third of the previously released "TLP3407SRH". This new photorelay can reduce the maximum input power consumption to 3.3mW [2] , contributing to reduced power consumption in probe cards, automatic semiconductor test equipment (ATE), semiconductor testers, and related application boards.

At high input voltages of 5V or higher, the new photorelay can be driven by adding a series external resistor, which allows the design of a maximum trigger LED reference current of 0.2mA. This approach reduces the input current of the tester circuit.

The TLP3407SR uses a small S-VSON4T [4] package with a mounting area of 2.9 mm2 , which is nearly 27% smaller than the existing VSONR4 [4] package, making it the smallest package in the industry [1] . This small package can support the reduction of the size of equipment such as probe cards, and can also accommodate more photorelays.
