Its subsidiary Shiping launched a 100W bidirectional charging and discharging solution based on Hynetek's HUSB311 USB PD PHY chip. ☜

With the launch of USB Type-C and multiple iterations, USB Type-C has become the mainstream interface for most electronic devices. At the same time, the PD protocol based on the CC line is becoming indispensable for power, data, video and other application scenarios, and configuring the host and device through the PD protocol has also become a basic requirement of the system. WPG World Peace's 100W bidirectional charging and discharging solution based on Hynetek products integrates a USB PD DRP controller HUSB311, a buck charger PL5500 and an MCU module, which can realize 100W PD charging or discharging of a single USB Type-C port.

This solution is a combination of USB Type-C PD DRP controller and battery charging management system. HUSB311 is configured to provide support for bidirectional charge and discharge (DRP), and various supported voltage and current standards can be freely customized, and PD can even be used. Custom instructions of the protocol to authenticate the devices of both parties. After the identity recognition is successful, support for higher voltage and larger current is initiated to improve the user experience. In addition, HUSB311 can automatically detect regardless of externally connected charging equipment or power supply equipment, adaptively adjust the power role, and successfully complete the power handshake of the PD protocol.


HUSB311 is a high-performance USB PD PHY chip launched by Hynetek in 2021. Hynetek is a company focusing on smart energy control technology. It mainly provides high-performance digital-analog hybrid chip products for the fields of smart fast charging and digital energy. At present, Hynetek has completed the overall product layout around the USB Type-C ecological chain, developed and mass-produced a variety of products.

At runtime, the USB PD DRP controller HUSB311 establishes a Type-C port manager, also known as TCPM, with the MCU. Due to the existence of TCPM, the solution can automatically switch its role as a host, device or DRP according to the type of electronic product connected to USB Type-C. In addition, both HUSB311 and PL5500 integrate I2C interface as slave devices. Monitoring and advanced configuration can be achieved through microprocessor communication through the I2C interface, such as monitoring the capacity of the PD power supply and PDO negotiation. Through the I2C interface of PL5500, charging parameters can be flexibly programmed, such as input current limit, input voltage limit, charging current, battery full, etc.


Through this solution, you can effectively charge 1-6 batteries, or discharge the large-capacity battery pack of a laptop or mobile phone. Through USB PD negotiation, it can achieve PD 100W fast charge and discharge function through a USB Type-C port, which is very Suitable for power tools, IoT devices, power banks and portable electronics.
