Ultra-low pressure sensors protect your building and your "breathing"
The weather is getting hotter and hotter. Is your air conditioner ready? When faced with this question, I always have to ask myself: Does the filter need to be cleaned?
Home air conditioning requires a lot of trouble. For buildings equipped with large HVAC or fresh air systems, this problem will be magnified exponentially. As the "breathing system" of the building, it is responsible for providing users of the entire building with fresh and comfortable air at a suitable temperature all year round. Is this "lung" that operates almost all year round in a healthy state? Who will remind it to undergo timely physical examinations and maintenance?
The "physical examination" process requires continuous and accurate monitoring of the airflow pressure, and even the slightest change cannot be missed. This requires low-pressure and ultra-low-pressure sensors .
The need for low pressure sensing capabilities continues to grow in the industrial and medical markets. From HVAC and gas flow metering to continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), ventilation and patient monitoring applications, the ability to detect small pressure changes is critical.
In response to the above needs, TE Connectivity (hereinafter referred to as "TE") provides the SMI pressure sensor series with excellent performance . It uses piezoresistive technology and signal processing functions to provide compensated output, thereby achieving low pressure and ultra-low pressure sensing . The product line covers a pressure range of ±125 Pa to 7 kPa (±0.018 to ±100 psi), with the lowest value equivalent to one percent of normal human blood pressure, and provides gauge pressure, differential pressure, and absolute pressure (only air pressure) pressure types.
These sensors can detect small changes in pressure with high accuracy and provide long-term reliable stability . The lightweight design can make medical devices lighter and large industrial equipment smaller and smarter.
The outstanding advantages of TE SMI pressure sensor series are:
Ultra low voltage function
-
Highly sensitive sensing element can detect small pressure changes, as low as 125 Pa (0.5 inches of water column)
Precise measurements with adaptive output signal
-
Dual output signals (digital and analog)
-
All errors within the compensated temperature range do not exceed 1%
-
Long-term stability ensures accurate measurements over time
Very small footprint
-
Small, lightweight integrated package design, compact and rugged
-
Vertical or horizontal mounting options for easy system integration
Low power consumption
-
The SMI series of pressure sensors have multiple low-power operating modes that can be used to reduce operating current, further helping medical devices to be wireless, compact and convenient for patients to use.
The SMI pressure sensor series includes
|
Ultra low pressure sensor SM9000 Pressure ranges down to 125 Pa are available in gage, differential, or asymmetric differential configurations, with a 16-bit I 2 C digital interface. |
|
Low pressure sensor SM7000, SM6000, SM5000 Offering pressure ranges from 0.07 to 2.49 PSI in gage, differential, or asymmetric differential configurations, it is available in a JEDEC standard SOIC-16 package with dual vertical or horizontal mounting options. |
|
Medium pressure sensor SM4000, SM1000 Available in pressure ranges from 2.5 to 30 PSI in gage, differential or asymmetric differential configurations. |
Application
SMI series pressure sensors are widely used, especially in industrial and medical fields.
Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR)
Providing high accuracy and high resolution measurement at low pressure, it can provide accurate flow data in slow return lines.
Industrial flow meters, oxygen storage and concentrators
High resolution and ultra-low pressure measurement increase sensitivity to reduced air flow due to obstruction.
Ventilator
Excellent long-term stability, the device does not require regular calibration.
Other applications include: variable air volume controllers, filter clogging (consumer and industrial), biological safety cabinets, washing machine/dishwasher/humidifier water levels and drone airspeed measurement.
