In order to stimulate the enthusiasm for learning of power electronics and related majors in colleges and universities and promote the cultivation of talents for the industrialization of power electronics technology, the China Power Supply Society will continue to hold the "10th College Power Electronics Application Design Competition" and is now soliciting participating teams and plans from relevant colleges and universities. , the relevant arrangements are notified as follows.

Competition purpose

The National College Power Electronics Application Design Competition is a creative science and technology competition targeting the application of power electronics technology and with the themes of innovation, energy conservation and emission reduction, and new energy utilization. It is an exploratory engineering practice activity for college students across the country and encourages Students propose innovative ideas to deal with challenging issues such as energy shortage and climate change, strengthen mutual exchanges and knowledge crossover among domestic university students, cultivate students' ability to connect theory with practice and engineering practice, encourage more students to participate in innovation in the field of power electronics technology, and help my country’s dual-carbon strategic development.

This competition will focus on innovative designs of high-efficiency and high-power-density wireless energy transmission systems. High power density wireless power transmission system has been one of the research hotspots in recent years. As a key technology in wireless power transmission, it is widely used in mobile devices, smart homes, electric vehicles and other fields. It has a broad application range and research prospects, and is also widely used. Bandgap semiconductor devices provide important development opportunities for realizing high-efficiency, high-power-density, and highly-integrated wireless transmission systems.

2 first prize winners, with a bonus of RMB 20,000;
Three second prize winners will receive a bonus of RMB 10,000;

There are 4 third prize winners with a bonus of RMB 3,000.

Competition topics and requirements

(1) Competition topic
Design of efficient and high power density wireless power transmission system

(2) Technical requirements for participating designs
1. Efficient and high power density design is the core indicator of the competition;
2. Entries must contain GaN devices (GS66508T), but not all switching devices must use GaN devices;
3. There is no limit on the power converter topology, no limit on the switching frequency, and no need for electrical isolation;
4. Low-cost design, the mainboard structure does not exceed 4 layers;
5. Can work continuously for 30 minutes at an ambient temperature of 0~40℃ (test condition 1);
6. The optional test items are bonus points. Each participating team can decide whether to participate in the test of the optional test items according to the situation.

Specific parameter indicators:
1. Input and output indicators:
Input voltage: 100V
Output voltage: 20V
Output power: 100W
Test load: electronic load

2. Working frequency band: The wireless power transmission frequency must meet the Qi standard or be located in the ISM band.

3. Transmission distance:
(1) ISM frequency band: X-axis range 0cm-3cm; Y-axis 0cm-1.5cm; Z-axis 3cm
(2) QI standard: X-axis range 0cm-3cm; Y-axis 0cm-1.5cm; Z-axis 1cm

4. Competition prototype form and volume requirements:
(1) Transmitting circuit: XYZ limit 12cm*6cm*1cm
(2) Receiving circuit: XYZ limit 6cm*3cm*1cm

5. Output ripple: voltage ripple is less than 3%

6. Voltage regulation rate: 5%

7. System efficiency (DC-DC):
(1) ISM frequency band: the efficiency is not less than 80% in the full offset range; when the xyz offset is the smallest, the efficiency is not less than 85%
(2) QI standard: the efficiency in the full offset range is not less than 87%; when the xyz offset is the smallest, the efficiency is not less than 92%

8. Stability: Under the maximum and minimum xyz offset conditions, it can run stably for half an hour. The heat dissipation method is not limited, but it is included in the volume requirement.

9. Electromagnetic compatibility (extra points): Only the conductive disturbance test of the input cable is performed. The working conditions of the prototype are input voltage = 100V, output voltage = 20V, output power 100W, and the load is a resistive load. Test reference standard, GB/T9254 level B. (optional item★)

Under the condition that the above technical conditions are met, efficiency and power density are the key evaluation technical indicators. The control chip can be the STM32G474QET3 chip provided by STMicroelectronics . Teams with the above devices can apply to the secretariat of the competition organizing committee after the preliminary round begins. If you have any questions, please consult the Secretariat of the Competition Organizing Committee.

Participation methods and requirements

(1) Requirements for participating teams
Participating teams are organized on a school-by-school basis. Each school is not limited to the number of participating teams, and joint team formation between different schools is encouraged. Each participating team includes 1 to 2 instructors and 4 to 5 participating team members. It can include no more than 1 graduate student (or no graduate students). In principle, one instructor can only guide one participating team.

(2) Registration method
1. Registration: Teams should fill in and submit at https://jinshuju.net/f/FgCgvP before March 10, 2024 . It is necessary to include information on the composition of the project team members and provide a support letter signed by the instructor, agreeing to guide the participating teams and provide necessary support to the participating teams, including experimental venues, experimental materials, necessary competition fees, etc.
