Huawei 5G has new moves!

Just now, Huawei released two 5G chips in Beijing: Tiangang and Balong 5000.

Tiangang is the industry's first 5G base station core chip, and Balong 5000, which Huawei has disclosed a few months ago, is the world's fastest 5G multi-mode terminal chip.

Huawei has launched corresponding products based on these two chips.

There is no doubt that amidst all the turmoil, this press conference is Huawei's way of showing off its muscles to the outside world.

Tiangang Chip

Tiangang chip is the industry's first 5G base station core chip.

Ding Yun, executive director of Huawei and president of the Carrier BG, said that breakthrough progress has been made in terms of integration, computing power, and spectrum bandwidth:

Extremely highly integrated, for the first time supporting large-scale integration of active PA (power amplifier) ​​and passive array under extremely low antenna size specifications; extremely powerful computing power, achieving a 2.5-fold increase in computing power, equipped with the latest algorithms and beamforming, a single chip can control up to 64 channels, the highest in the industry; extremely wide spectrum, supporting 200M operator spectrum bandwidth.

In addition, Tiangang has also brought revolutionary improvements to AAU, achieving a base station size reduction of more than 50%, a weight reduction of 23%, a power consumption reduction of 21%, and an installation time of half that of a standard 4G base station, effectively solving challenges such as difficulty in site acquisition and high costs.

The product based on the Tiangang chip is the 64T64R 5GAAU, and there is also a 32T32R, which can be installed by an adult man.

5G multi-mode terminal chip: Balong 5000

Huawei's executive director and consumer CEO Yu Chengdong said that Balong 5000 has five world's bests and one world leader.

Then, Huawei released its first 5G terminal product based on the Balong 5000 chip: 5G CPE Pro.

Yu Chengdong said that this is the world's fastest 5G CPE, supporting Wi-Fi 6 technology. The main application scenario is smart home.

The field test speed showed a peak of 3.29Gbps ​​and an average of 3.22Gbps.

At the next MWC, smartphones equipped with Balong 5000 and Kirin980 will arrive, still with foldable screens.

AI helps 5G be everywhere

At the press conference, Huawei further revealed its 5G commercialization progress.

Currently, Huawei has 30 5G commercial contracts, with the most in Europe (18), the Middle East (9), and Asia Pacific (3). Globally, 5G product shipments have exceeded 25,000.

However, if we want to commercialize 5G better and faster, we need to simplify the network and experience. Yang Chaobin, president of Huawei's 5G product line, said AI is very important in these aspects.

Yang Chaobin said that in terms of energy consumption, Huawei's current 5G technology has an energy efficiency per bit that is 25 times lower than 4G. If AI is used to achieve bit-driven watts, the network energy efficiency can be increased by a hundred times.

In terms of operation and maintenance, AI-based automation can achieve automatic site activation, feature adaptation and business self-optimization.

In addition, in specific devices, AI also provides support for the further development of 5G.

The world's first data center switch equipped with an AI brain was launched not long ago. It has the highest performance in the industry, can achieve zero packet loss in Ethernet, and reduce end-to-end latency to less than 10 microseconds; its maximum power consumption is only 8W. The capacity of such an AI chip exceeds the computing power of 25 current mainstream dual-core CPU servers.

It also proposed the goal of building an "autonomous driving network", actively introduced full-stack and full-scenario AI technology, and created SoftCOM AI solutions to help operators achieve comprehensive value multiplication in terms of energy efficiency, network performance, operation and maintenance efficiency, and user experience.

This year, Huawei will release a full-scenario 5G solution.
