In recent years, PI has been forging ahead and continuously launching various applications for automobiles and brushless DC (BLDC) motor drives. In this exhibition, PI and its technical experts will share PI's latest power management, gate driver and motor driver products with the audience on site.

PI exhibited two reference designs for 400V and 800V DC bus architectures based on the AEC-Q100 certified InnoSwitch3-AQ for automotive applications .

InnoSwitch product family has shipped 1 billion units in just 6 years since its launch in 2014. This milestone demonstrates the extraordinary value of InnoSwitch devices at the forefront of the industry in terms of energy efficiency, reliability and durability. It uses innovative FluxLink communication technology to provide high-precision secondary-side control without optocouplers, thus establishing a new standard for power conversion technology.

Now, as the third generation of the family, InnoSwitch3 ICs feature a number of new features, including integration of PI’s PowiGaN 750V gallium nitride (GaN) switch technology and 1700V silicon carbide, delivering up to 100W of power at 95% efficiency without a heat sink.

Also on display is the SCALE-iDriver-driven Danfoss 750V IGBT module (RDHP-2050Q), which is also designed for automotive applications and features a 400V DC bus architecture and advanced protection features.

With the development of office automation, household appliances, industrial robots and other equipment are increasingly tending towards high power, miniaturization and high intelligence. Brushless DC motors have obvious advantages and are developing rapidly. PI company showcased the BridgeSwitch™ integrated half-bridge circuit (IHB) motor driver IC product series at PCIM Asia. BridgeSwitch IC can achieve inverter conversion efficiency of >99% in brushless DC (BLDC) motor driver applications, saving BOM and PCB space.

PI also exhibited a series of SCALE-iDrive products, the most eye-catching of which was the SCALE-iFlex ™ gate driver system. This product is suitable for IGBT, hybrid and silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFET power modules with a durability range of 1.7 kV to 4.5 kV. The system consists of a central insulated master control (IMC) and one to four module-adapted gate drivers (MAGs). The IMC provides a 4.5 kV withstand voltage. These MAGs can support different power modules, manufacturers and semiconductor switch technologies at voltage levels of 1700 V, 3300 V and 4500 V.

PI also exhibited the following products:

1) High power density AC-DC converter MinE-CAP showcased reference design DER-626, a 65W USB PD 3.0 power supply with 3.3V – 21V PPS output using PowiGa’s InnoSwitch3-Pro and MinE-CAP

2) InnoSwitch™ 3-MX and InnoMux chipsets Demonstrated 26W power supply for home appliances with LCD displays (DER-871)

3) SCALE-2 single-channel driver for 3300 V modules with external DC/DC power supply and 4500 V IGBT modules

PI not only displayed many new products at the exhibition, but the company's experts also participated in the PCIM Asia International Seminar and the Power Electronics Application Technology Forum to introduce PI's BridgeSwitch and IGBT gate drivers to the audience in more detail.
