Micron Technology Explains Vision for IoT and Industrial Computing at Nuremberg Show
Micron Technology has announced a collaboration with German company Hyperstone to deliver highly reliable flash storage solutions for telecommunications, networking and embedded applications.
Nuremberg, Germany – Embedded World (Hall 3A, Booth 520)
March 6, 2017: The rapid growth of automation and the Internet of Things has many industries adapting to a new reality. From factory automation, transportation and logistics, energy distribution to smart cities, the digitization of processes requires organizations to rethink their IT and operational technology infrastructure to improve uptime and security. However, the evolution of technology in industrial automation and the Internet of Things is much more complex than in the fast-moving consumer market segments—the devices that deliver these new capabilities must be durable and withstand a variety of harsh conditions. At the show, Micron Technology will share its vision for why designers in industrial fields such as the Industrial Internet of Things need to make careful choices to ensure their products meet these stringent requirements.
New Rugged Storage for Industrial Applications
Micron will also collaborate with controller partner Hyperstone, based in Lake Constance, Germany, to launch a new product for networking, telecommunications and industrial IoT environments, which will be demonstrated at Hyperstone’s booth.
-
The new embedded USB (eU500) is a ruggedized storage device that enables fast boot and data logging capabilities in the most demanding environments. In the mobile industry, for example, the eU500 can help mobile operators maximize uptime for base stations deployed in remote, uncontrolled locations that require rapid reboots to achieve near 99.999% network uptime goals. They also enable easy upgrades to new mobile frequency bands; this is essential as operator networks continue to increase speeds and launch new services over the years.
-
The eU500 is available in densities ranging from 4GB to 32GB and is available now directly from Micron Technology and its distribution partners.
The growing role of storage in industrial design
As smart, connected devices continue to increase, a new era of economic growth and intensified competition has arrived. To seize these opportunities, industrial customers need technologies that are scalable, energy-efficient, and can quickly access data, and storage solutions can help address these needs. As data growth accelerates and solutions become more specialized, memory and storage solutions are becoming a strategic advantage for our customers and partners, and helping to achieve a range of breakthrough features from autonomous driving to virtual reality.
