When trying to connect the PTC04, I get a warning message: Low supply voltage detected: x.xx (requires at least 18V).
A: PTC04 requires an external power supply of 24V to 48V, refer to the document: PTC04_DataSheet.
▼ The PSF for the PTC04 has a "CheckSetup" method. This method checks if the object supports the environment. This typically includes checking the validity of the communication channel, the hardware version and specific parameters, the software version, and setting device-specific parameters. This method also checks the internal power supply of the PTC04.
The method is described in MPT_Development_Reference.HLP. You can find auxiliary files and the PTC04 datasheet on the CD that comes with the PTC04, in the softdist folder "..\PTC04_CD\Tools\MPT " or on the Melexis website.
The external power supply is the source of all the internal required voltages. The PTC04 has 4 internal power supplies:
• +35V (for driver or programmable power supply)
• +5V digital voltage (digital core, acts as an interface between the PTC and the host application)
• +5V Analog (measurement circuit with MUX and ADC)
• +3.3V digital voltage (for FPGA and USB power)
If the external power supply is 48V, the driver power supply is 35V. When the external power supply is 24V, the driver power supply is 18V. 18V is the minimum requirement for the PTC04 driver (programmable power supply). However, for specific functions of some products, a higher driving power supply may be required.

How to mount USB?
A: For the USB installation procedure, refer to the document: Installation_Guide_USB. This file can be found on the CD that comes with the PTC04 or on the Melexis website.
Installation steps:
Step 1: Run "MlxFtdiUSBSetup.exe".
Step 2: User Account Control: Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer? Click "Yes" to start the installation.
Step 3: Install Melexis FTDI-USB Driver Package Installer 2.08.30. Click "Install" to continue the installation;
Step 4: Continue to click "Next".
Step 5: Select "I accept this EULA". Click "next" to continue.
Step 6: Click "Finish" to complete the installation.
Step 7: Connect the PTC04 or EVB to the USB Port.
Step 8: The connected PTC04 will automatically install both drivers.
Note: If you do not have administrator privileges on your computer, Windows may ask you to enter an administrator password.

How to upload the firmware of PTC-04?
A: Please refer to the document PTC04_UI for detailed instructions . This document can be found on the CD that comes with the PTC04 or on the Melexis website.
The firmware loader is required to upload new or additional firmware into the PTC-04 programmer. The PTC-04 programmer has specific firmware, PSF, and user interface for most MLX products. Therefore it is very important to load the correct firmware into the PTC-04 programmer. At startup, the PSF layer checks the ID and revision of the firmware loaded in the PTC-04. If the firmware of the MLX product does not support PSF, the PSF layer will return an error message.
Upload steps:
Step 1: Start the PTC-04 user interface
Step 2: Press the Upload Firmware button
Step 3: Select the firmware you need for your MLX product.
The firmware file name is:
ptc04_mlx*****_firmware.hex
or fir******aamlx.hex
***** represents MLX product name
For example: ptc04_mlx90251_firmware.hex or fir090264aamlx.hex.
Once the file is opened, the firmware will be loaded into the PTC-04 programmer. Afterwards, the software will verify that the upload was correct. If the software asks to reset the PTC04, press the small button next to the RS232 interface.
