How many tests do you have to take from the beginning of school to graduation? (Bonus at the end of the article)
In order to go to college, we have to take the college entrance examination. In order to graduate, we have to take the college entrance examination. In order to drive, we have to take the driving test.
5G seems to have only one more G than 4G? It has to meet various specifications and pass various tests. In order to accelerate the commercialization of 5G, the Helio M70 modem chip has passed several test verifications. The Helio M70 is now available and is expected to be shipped in the second half of 2019.
Passed Anritsu's 5G test
Achieve maximum downlink and uplink throughput
Anritsu's MT8000A platform provides a reliable test system for ultra-high-speed and high-capacity 5G communications such as broadband signal processing and beamforming. The all-in-one MT8000A supports RF and protocol testing in Sub-6 GHz and mmWave bands. With its cutting-edge non-standalone and standalone base station simulation capabilities, the MT8000A enables Anritsu and MediaTek to test advanced 5G technologies including 4x4 MIMO to increase data communication speeds in the Sub-6 GHz band.
“We worked with Anritsu to thoroughly test the MediaTek Helio M70 5G modem to ensure it is ready for 5G network deployments that enable ultra-fast connectivity,” said Chih-Hsin Pan, General Manager of MediaTek’s Wireless Communications System Development Unit. “With support for simultaneous 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G connectivity, devices powered by the Helio M70 will provide consumers with a seamless connected experience anytime, anywhere.”
Using Rohde & Schwarz high-performance turnkey OTA system
Perform device transmitter and receiver testing
MediaTek and Rohde & Schwarz (R&S) are collaborating on over-the-air (OTA) testing of MediaTek’s 5G front-end modules and antenna arrays. The R&S TS8980R&D-M1 test system will be used to fully characterize, validate and test the antenna performance of MediaTek’s 5G network solutions, including its 5G modem chip Heilo M70. The system includes the new ATS1800C CATR compact shielded chamber, as well as the R&S SMW200A vector signal generator, R&S FSW50 signal and spectrum analyzer, and R&S ZVA40 vector network analyzer.
“We have worked closely with Rohde & Schwarz over the past few years to accelerate the development of mmWave technology and optimize our 5G network solutions,” said Zhixin Pan, General Manager of Wireless Communication System Development at MediaTek. “Testing based on Rohde & Schwarz over-the-air test systems will ensure that our customers can be confident that their devices will meet the stringent requirements of 5G when they are brought to market.”
Helio M70 creates high-speed network experience in the 5G era
The 5G modem chip with LTE and 5G dual connectivity (EN-DC) supports multiple modes of cellular networks from 2G/3G/4G/5G. The Helio M70 is designed in accordance with the 3GPP R15 standard specification and supports the current non-standalone (NSA) and future 5G standalone (SA) architectures, connecting global 5G NR bands with 4G LTE bands while meeting support for high-power user equipment (HPUE) and other basic operator needs. With its multi-mode solution, the Helio M70 simplifies the design of 5G devices through a comprehensive power management plan, enabling manufacturers to design mobile devices with smaller form factors, higher energy efficiency and stylish appearance. MediaTek will showcase the Helio M70 at MWC 2019 in Barcelona, Spain, from February 25 to 28, 2019; the company's booth is located in Hall 6, booth 6C30.
