Cypress Launches World-Leading Flash Memory Solutions to Support Safety-Critical Applications in Automotive and Industrial Applications

Beijing, China, June 6, 2018 - Cypress Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: CY), a global leading provider of embedded system solutions, recently announced the official launch of the Semper™ NOR Flash product series. This product series is aimed at the automotive and industrial fields, providing users with the best security and reliability in the industry. The architecture and design of the Semper Flash product series are designed to create trouble-free embedded automotive safety systems and are the first storage products that meet the ISO 26262 functional safety standard. This product series meets the requirements of the automotive industry and the functional safety standard of ASIL-B, and can still provide excellent durability and data retention in extreme temperature application environments in automobiles and industries.

With Cypress's EnduraFlex™ architecture, Semper flash products can be divided into multiple partitions, and the durability and long-term storage capabilities of each partition can be optimized separately, simplifying system design. For frequent data writes, through the partition configuration of Semper Flash, 512Mb density products can achieve up to 1.28 million program erases, while 1Gb density products can achieve up to 2.56 million program erases. For code and configuration storage, up to 25 years of data retention can be achieved by configuring a single partition.

The Semper flash memory product line includes AEC-Q100 automotive certified products, supporting an extended temperature range of -40°C to +125°C, 1.8V and 3.0V operating voltage ranges, and storage densities from 512Mb to 4Gb. The product offers different options for Quad SPI, Octal SPI, and HyperBus™ interfaces. Among them, the Octal and HyperBus interface products are high-performance x8 NOR flash memories that comply with the JEDEC xSPI standard and provide a read bandwidth of 400 MBps.

Availability

Currently, Cypress's 512Mb Semper flash memory products are in the stage of providing samples to key customers, and mature samples will be launched in the fourth quarter of 2018. Products using 24-ball grid array (BGA), 16-pin SOIC and 8-contact WSON packages are expected to be mass-produced in the first quarter of 2019.
