Apple wins another victory in the patent war: at least it doesn't have to pay Qualcomm so much money

On Tuesday, a U.S. federal judge granted Apple's request that Qualcomm cannot demand financial damages for infringements before the case was filed in 2017. The judge also ruled that Apple did not infringe one of several patents filed by Qualcomm. Qualcomm sued Apple for infringing patents related to mobile graphics processing and energy-saving technology that are not standard essential patents in the field of wireless communications.
This lawsuit is part of the global patent litigation war between Apple and Qualcomm. So far, both parties have won partial victories in the global litigation war, but neither has won a "big victory."
In Qualcomm's lawsuit against Apple at the U.S. International Trade Commission, the judge ruled that Apple infringed a Qualcomm patent, but recommended not to ban the sale of Apple's infringing products. The U.S. International Trade Commission will issue a ruling on March 26.
Representatives for Apple and Qualcomm declined to comment.
