Many science fiction movies describe scenes where robots develop their own minds and attack humans. A real version of “I, Robot” was staged at the China Hi-Tech Fair.
According to media reports, a robot named Xiaopang suddenly smashed the glass of the booth without any instructions, eventually destroying part of the booth. More seriously, the robot also injured passers-by. The pictures exposed online showed that the injured had been taken away on a stretcher. The pictures of the scene showed broken glass and injured people being taken away on stretchers.
According to the reporter, the Xiaopang robot was jointly developed by Beijing Evolver Robot Technology Co., Ltd. and the Robotics Institute of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and was specifically developed for children aged 4 to 12.
This afternoon, the official Weibo account of the High-Tech Fair explained the cause of the accident, clarifying that it was caused by improper human operation, where the "forward key" was mistaken for the "backward key", causing the robot to crash into the glass of the booth, which fell to the ground and shattered, injuring a spectator. In short, the accident was not caused by the robot, and science fiction fans can rest assured.
After the incident, the reporter from China Business Network called Beijing Evolver Robotics Technology Co., Ltd. several times but was unable to reach the company. The company's website shows that a premium version of the home robot costs as much as 12,988 yuan.
According to its official Weibo, on November 15, the chubby robot went to Wuzhen to attend the World Internet Conference and acted as a guide. I wonder if the Internet giants are lucky to have escaped the disaster.
