Murata, the leader in passive components, announced on its Chinese website the resumption of work of 13 production plants in Japan after the earthquake. 11 of them have gradually resumed operation. Only WAKURA Murata Manufacturing has yet to confirm the resumption timetable, while Anamizu Murata Manufacturing, which produces inductors, will After being suspended for more than four months, production is expected to resume in mid-May.
Murata is the world leader in passive component manufacturing, with a global market share of multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC) as high as 31%. The industry pointed out that the focus of MLCC production capacity is not at the epicenter. For MLCC, which has the largest usage in various terminal devices, it has suffered from the Noto Peninsula disaster. The impact of the earthquake was limited, and Murata also announced the resumption progress of factories in Japan on its Chinese official website.
According to the resumption progress of 13 factories announced by Murata, 11 of them have resumed work in an orderly manner. Himi Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. will resume work the latest and will resume work in early February; the only two factories that have not yet resumed work include WAKURA Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (Chinese translation) For Wakura Manufacturing) and Anamizu Inductor Factory, the resumption time of WAKURA Murata Manufacturing has yet to be confirmed, while Anamizu Inductor Factory will be suspended for more than four months and is expected to resume production in mid-May. Once production resumes and is ready, the order will start immediately Shipping.
Due to the extended shutdown time of Anasui Inductor Factory, domestic Chilisin and Taiqingke received inquiries from customers. However, domestic manufacturers also pointed out that because inductors are highly customized, in addition to seeking substitute materials from Taiwanese factories, they can also seek from Murata's Philippines factory and other manufacturers. A Japanese company, Taiyo Yuden, coordinates supply.
Murata issued a statement earlier saying that after the Noto Peninsula earthquake, the company conducted an investigation on all factories in the disaster area, and it is currently confirmed that one employee died in the earthquake. In addition, Anasui Inductor Factory suffered huge losses due to the earthquake. In addition to injuries to some employees, damage to factory equipment and water and power outages in the factory hindered production and shipments.
Anasui Inductor Factory mainly produces chip inductors and common mode inductor coils. The earthquake caused supply disruptions to the DLW-P and LQH series products. Murata stated that the Anasui Inductor Factory was severely damaged due to its proximity to the epicenter of the earthquake, and it is expected that it will not be able to resume production before mid-May. Therefore, it is recommended that customers temporarily switch to third-party suppliers to place orders.
