Recently, at the Huawei "Problem Revealing" Spark Award Ceremony, Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei talked about the company's current situation and independent research and development progress.

First of all, Ren Zhengfei said bluntly: "Huawei is still in a difficult period, but it has not stopped on the road ahead. Our R&D expenditure in 2022 will be 23.8 billion US dollars. As our profits increase in a few years, we will continue to explore cutting-edge areas." We will continue to increase investment.”

In the face of external sanctions, he said that Huawei has completed the replacement development of more than 13,000 devices and the repeated development of more than 4,000 circuit boards in three years... "It is only now that our circuit boards have stabilized, because we have domestically produced parts are supplied.”

At the same time, Huawei is also overcoming software problems. "In April this year, our MetaERP will be sworn in. We will use our own operating system, database, compiler and language... to make our own management system MetaERP software," Ren Zhengfei said. "MetaERP has gone through various departments of the company around the world. The application has been tested in practice, and many design tools have been made available to the public on Huawei Cloud, gradually overcoming the embarrassment of supply interruption. "

Behind this is Huawei's deep R&D system. Ren Zhengfei said that Huawei has spent nearly two decades preparing on basic theories and invested hundreds of billions to cultivate a group of scientists who study basic theories and experts with technical know-how. They have been climbing the "Himalayas" of science. When Huawei was suppressed, these scientists were invited to the "foot of the mountain" to "herd sheep" and "farm"... and to participate in the battle of "killing pigs" with a "scalpel".

In addition, Huawei is also increasing its cooperation with domestic universities. In Ren Zhengfei's view, Huawei's cooperation with universities is to explore the future of mankind within certain technological boundaries. As its economic strength grows, Huawei will continue to expand its "horns" for external cooperation. mouth".

For example, the "Problem Revealing List" Spark Award is an important link with universities. Since November 2021, Huawei has successively released challenges in the industry to the whole society, and many university teachers have also participated in the challenge. Huawei awards Spark Awards to teachers and experts who have solved key technical problems for Huawei.

The cornerstone of innovation is talent. Huawei has also proposed in recent years that "world-class problems create world-class talents" and recruits top talents through awards and other channels. At this year's Spark Awards ceremony, Ren Zhengfei also held a symposium with the winners and topic experts, talking about ChatGPT, science and technology, talent training and other topics.

The following is the core content of the symposium dialogue:

1. Question: I just joined the school as an assistant professor this year, and my research direction is related to ChatGPT. Abroad, these studies are done by relatively young people, but it is different in China. Many resources are basically in the hands of relatively high-level professors or engineers, such as machines and students, but their understanding and follow-up of new technologies are basically in the hands of relatively high-level professors or engineers. It may not be enough. Young people have good ideas, but without machines, they cannot recruit better students. Those who are capable do not have the resources, and those who have the resources are incapable. Faced with this situation, what advice and guidance does Mr. Ren have?

Ren Zhengfei: I know that EDA at the Chinese University of Hong Kong is very good, and it should be very good in other fields; City University of Hong Kong teaches semiconductor technology very well; HKU’s theory is very good;…

First, the types of scientists can be different. Some are architectural scientists, some are explanatory scientists, some are breakthrough scientists, and some are craftsman scientists... Older scientists have rich life experience and have a clear understanding of system architecture; they explain architectural models to young people. Young people can easily break through if they have weird ideas, and the flaws in the architecture can be easily repaired; some People are deeply involved in practice, have accumulated rich know-how experience in engineering implementation, and are good at solving complex engineering problems. We are also called craftsman scientists. The most creative people are young people, but the most capable people are experienced experts and professors who have a clear understanding of the entire architecture. Therefore, only by combining the old, middle-aged and young can the country overcome major difficulties.

I think the School of Surveying and Mapping of Wuhan University has done a very good job. Five academicians give lectures to freshmen students. This is the most correct thing. The first-grade child is the smartest, but he doesn't know what it's like to climb to the "second floor". The professor tells him what "second floor", "third floor", "fourth floor"... are. It didn’t take eight years for me to graduate with a Ph.D. to suddenly realize that this is what the “second floor” looks like. Shenzhen's reforms have been very good some time ago. Doctoral students are working as middle school teachers and primary school teachers. This is a sign that the country is making progress. Inspire him with his future ideals when he is a child. Don't wait until he is almost old to tell him, otherwise he will miss the best era of creation and invention. Because the most creative thinking is in childhood, the space of imagination, the people in imagination, and the interpersonal relationships in imagination are beyond our imagination. Why should they walk in unison at this time? Why can't they be allowed to have inconsistent steps? China's future requires a hundred flowers to bloom.

Second, there will be a turmoil in large-scale AI models in the future, and it’s not just Microsoft. The direct contribution of artificial intelligence software platform companies to human society may be less than 2%, and 98% is the promotion of industrial society and agricultural society. The popularization of AI services requires 5G connections. The reason why Germany is so supportive of Huawei's 5G is because it wants to promote the advancement of artificial intelligence in German industry. Many factories in Germany have unmanned production; China's Xiangtan Steel Plant has no one in front of the furnace from steelmaking to steel rolling; The loading and unloading of goods at Tianjin Port has also become unmanned. Once the code is entered, the container is automatically moved from the ship and then transported away by car. After the Shanxi coal mine adopted 5G+artificial intelligence underground, the number of personnel was reduced by 60-70%, and most people Working in a suit in a control room on the ground level. …. These are examples that have been used on a large scale, and in these processes, the ultimate contribution to mankind is great.

Everyone should pay attention to applications, especially applications in industry and agricultural society. The application of models is sometimes more promising than the models themselves. However, in addition to our company's ability to build the underlying computing power platform for AI, the application platform is not an option for us. Our company knows nothing else, so we have to focus on this aspect and strive to build a computing power platform that meets social needs. The idea that the underlying platform will be open is what Xu Zhijun told me. We can only account for a small amount of the 2% platform contribution. What are the opportunities for us with ChatGPT? It will expand calculations and pipeline flow, so that our products will have market demand.

2. Question: Mr. Ren just mentioned that you did not study when you were young, but you founded Huawei and created miracles. Did your personal leadership and personal heroism play a decisive role?

Ren Zhengfei: I'm talking about the 1960s. At that time, there was an opposition to white colleges and a lack of technical books. Unlike today, there are so many books and the Internet. Young people should cherish this opportunity. What a wonderful era! On the Internet, the collision of ideas is global, and the sparks of collision are also at the forefront of the times. It drives a huge group to create the world, and the world's progress speeds up as a result, and it should be overwhelming.

In the field of connection, we should be the world leader. This is achieved by 200,000 people, plus 200,000 outsourced people, plus the energy absorbed from theoretical workers around the world. For example, the theory of 5G was triggered by a mathematics paper by Professor Arikan from Türkiye. In the field of computing, we also want to catch up with the United States. We have a window of opportunity. To seize the window of opportunity, we still need to rely on collective strength to promote cluster computing. Our company internally calls it "a cup of coffee absorbs the energy of the universe". It mainly involves collective intelligence squeezing and impacting each other. Your thoughts ignite his spark, and his spark ignites a raging fire. For example, President Zhang Xiang of the University of Hong Kong mentioned the scientific research on radiation refrigeration of ordinary glass. When the sun shines on the outer surface, cold air emits on the inner surface. Whether this technology can be applied to the outer casing of our machines, wouldn’t it be an extremely huge achievement?

Therefore, individual inventions must have a group platform to turn sparks into raging fires. How to unite this platform? Everyone will concentrate on carrying a "sedan".

3. Question: After Huawei realized the importance of mathematics, how did it promote and layout it at the company level? In addition, as many outstanding mathematical talents join Huawei and Huawei's mathematical capabilities gradually increase, will it continue to strengthen cooperation with the scientific research community in universities?

Ren Zhengfei: Napoleon's approach to founding a country through mathematics promoted the progress of French mathematics; Catherine's introduction of Western philosophy and painting... actually promoted the progress of Russia. Physics is mathematics, civil engineering and architecture are mathematics, mechanics is also mathematics... Mathematics can be used in a variety of places to solve problems, covering a wide range of topics. For example, experts in civil engineering use their understanding of civil engineering to solve algorithmic problems in civil engineering.

Why does our company value mathematics? What is radio and what is communication? Isn’t electromagnetic wave just an equation? A mathematical paper by Turkish Professor Arikan turned into a raging fire for 5G ten years later; a paper published by scientist Peter Ufimtsev in the early 1960s showed that diamond facets can scatter radio waves, which was invented by the United States 20 years later The F22 stealth aircraft was launched; in the 1950s, Professor Wu Zhonghua of the Chinese Academy of Sciences’ ternary flow theory used the isentropic section calculation method for jet engines, which laid the foundation for today’s aero-engine industry. …. As the future moves toward an information society, mathematics will become increasingly important. Artificial intelligence is all mathematics, and algorithmic problems are mathematical problems. How to use algorithms to solidify some quantities of physics into models? This model is for everyone to use. People who use the model don’t necessarily need to understand it. They just need to be able to use it. Of course, physics, chemistry, neurobiology, engineering, electronics... are also very important.

We will establish a system simulation laboratory in San Francisco. The mathematics of San Diego University is very good in the world. Simulation experiments in wireless, network, computing, digital energy, supply, manufacturing, materials... can all be done here; we are in your city. Gui'an has established a mirror laboratory. When doing large-scale model experiments, you can build exactly the same complete scene in Gui'an. You don't have to try it on the customer's actual scene. Invite teachers to come to us to study and do experiments. You can take away the results and we will learn from the papers you published.

Therefore, for universities, after the company overcomes the difficulties, within certain technical boundaries, it will provide greater support to universities and make a small contribution to improving everyone's academic environment. But compared with the country, our money is much less.

4. Questions: We have a guiding ideology: study real problems, really study problems, and really solve problems. After the announcement, we promoted a cooperation project with Huawei, which will involve openness and some institutional issues. For example, how will the solution we research be implemented in Huawei's product line, and how will we follow up? Can the person who gave the question also be motivated? This encourages everyone to be willing to share things with us and to work with us to solve problems.

Ren Zhengfei: We can’t be too stingy. After teachers reveal their results, they should be given corresponding bonuses and commendations to combine spiritual incentives with material incentives.

Our learning platform is divided into several parts: the first is "Huang Danian Tea Thought House", where all theories (including our own theories) are fully open, because we believe that Huawei's integration capabilities should be stronger than other companies; the second is "Jiaxian" "Net", that is Know-How, it is technology, and it is not open to the public at present; thirdly, the technically open part is posted on "Huang Danian Tea Thought House". The teacher's research results are theoretical and may not be useful soon. Regarding the follow-up question, don’t you know someone? They will disclose the information to you and you are welcome to participate if you are interested at that time.

We need talents with the ability to solve problems. People with comprehensive development are of little use to our company. For example, the "Spark Award" is to solve the problem. You may also be a "crooked melon and split date". Apart from solving this problem, you don't understand much else. Holistic development is about developing leaders. A PhD should not be fully developed, but only a breakthrough can be made at any point. We should change the evaluation system for PhDs. If it can be changed, it will be of great value to the next generation of children.

5. Question: Recently, I noticed that a "genius boy" left the company after two years to start a robot business. I have a friend who graduated from the University of Zurich who is in a similar situation. He is also considered top in this field and is also working. Left after two years. ChatGPT, electric vehicles, DJI drones...many disruptive innovations are done by this kind of start-ups. The first question is, how does Mr. Ren view the difference between young people’s innovation and entrepreneurship and their persistence? The second question is, in addition to remuneration, can our company provide young people with some resources and encouragement in terms of system to encourage them to break through, innovate, and dare to challenge?

Ren Zhengfei: First, when you join our company, you no longer have the title "genius boy". The positioning of "genius boy" is mainly used for grading and salary determination on entry. During the onboarding training for all new employees in Sanyapo, there are posted topics everywhere. Everyone should respond enthusiastically. Some people will read this post, and some people will come to you for coffee. You must communicate seriously, disagree or agree. Either way. They are selecting people, and these experts have the power to grade you and assign you a job position on the spot, because they are very powerful experts themselves. If he thinks you can train him, the rank will be set very high. Why do you have to start at the lowest level? He can also pull you into his project team, and you will directly join the big project team. A large project team does not refer to a large scale, but to a high-end project team.

We emphasize "selecting talents in an unconventional way", combining the old, middle-aged and young, and moving forward in an open environment. Young people are most capable of breakthroughs between 25 and 35 years old; experienced and qualified people have the ability to build structures, and building structures and breakthroughs are equally important. There are also success and failure issues in science and technology. Don't be discouraged by failure, because failure is also a practical training for you.

Second, we cannot monopolize talents. If employees want to start a business or go to other companies, it will be useful to the country if they can make full use of their talents and bring out their value. There was a movie in the past called "The Center Dies Before Dawn". We monopolized talents and held them back even if they were no longer useful, wasting their youth, and we also had to pay them a salary, so we couldn't please both ends. We have also reflected on the talent mechanism. For example, after some people enter the company, they do not make good use of what they are best at. Failure to play their role is a waste of their youth.

The key to talent is how to use it. For example, we emphasize the vertical circulation mechanism of experts. Experts cannot stay in one position for a long time and must go to the front line to circulate. As soon as the "stone" is opened, the "grass" underneath will grow taller, and everyone can see it, so that the young people will not be buried under the "stone". The purpose of expert vertical circulation is to allow him to combine theory and practice to solve practical problems. A vertical cycle does not necessarily mean a salary reduction. The working group has no rank. He can be higher than the administrative department. He can be "lieutenant", "college officer", "major general", "admiral"... to maintain his cycle. Until a suitable position becomes available. Of course, unsuitable people also face elimination. Without practice, you will have to experience it dozens of times in blind groping before you can feel it; without practice, you will not have a deep understanding of theory.

6. Question: The world is gradually entering the data era. Algorithms, computing power, and data are the three pillars of the data era. In terms of algorithms and computing power, universities have solutions, but it is difficult for universities to collect data. A lot of data is actually provided by various companies. However, some data may involve some privacy issues and are difficult for companies to provide, so the progress of related algorithms is very slow. I wonder what Mr. Ren thinks of this issue?

Ren Zhengfei: Our company has a project, hoping to build tens of millions of servers with one operating system. They are all young people, so I let them "talk nonsense". Anyway, we can't do tens of millions of servers now. Now it is possible to have one operating system for hundreds of thousands of machines.

Our company's algorithm is an algorithm that solves the problem of computing power. We mainly focus on how to use algorithms to reduce the consumption problem in the process of large traffic, and we only build a "black land" basic platform. In principle, we do not make algorithms that solve customer applications. Only customers can understand the part of the algorithm that serves the business. The data belongs to others, and the most we can do is borrow it.

In the future, we may also learn from Google and do some research that has no practical significance. It may not necessarily be related to Huawei's business. In fact, it is to make more contributions to human society. Of course, we don’t have that much money yet. When the net profit is enough, our scientific frontier will be pushed a step further, from sparks to the universe.

7. Question: In some fields of applied mathematics, from Huawei's perspective, what issues can we make mid-term or long-term plans for?

Ren Zhengfei: I think that the integration of mathematics and industry should be the task of some specific applied research institutes. For example, Zhenjiang Agricultural Machinery College of Jiangsu University cooperated with Zhengzhou to make hydraulic tractors. Why can't the college have its own characteristics? Isn't it a famous school in some fields? High-horsepower hydraulic tractors are currently only available in the United States. They can cultivate nearly 10,000 acres of land in one day, which is very impressive. The tractors made in our country have low horsepower, but they can already make them, right? Why do all Chinese colleges have to be exactly the same?

The Chinese Academy of Sciences is responsible for discovery, so it can discuss some divergent and "boring" things and allow "nonsense". This is the pioneer of mankind. But turning your discoveries into engineered products or devices is not what you are good at. It requires cooperation on a larger scale. Only when your theory is combined with practice can it exert greater value, and only "useless" can be "useful".

8. Question: You just said that science is about doing "boring" things. I agree very much. There is also a saying that Einstein could have formulated the theory of relativity while sitting in his room 100 years ago, but modern science may require large instruments and scientific equipment. In this case, if a young scientist does not have a clear goal orientation, it may be difficult to make some outstanding progress. There are some uncertainties in basic research and it is difficult to plan in advance. Mr. Ren, how do you view the balance between the two?

Ren Zhengfei: Science is driven by curiosity. Some theories and papers may not be effective until one or two hundred years after they are published. Einstein made great discoveries at such a young age, but people don’t understand that he was also very lonely. He looked for people to drink coffee everywhere, and everyone talked about their own things. How many people were interested in drinking coffee with him for such a long time in his life? I thought there would be someone to drink coffee with him every day. Greatness and loneliness are synonymous. For example, Mendel's pea hybridization experiment lasted for eight years from 1856 to 1863. He compiled the research results into a paper "Plant Hybrid Experiments" and published it. He discovered the genetic gene, but it failed to attract the attention of the academic community at that time. Mendel's ideas and experiments were too advanced. It took a hundred years for people to realize the great value of genetic genes to human society.

We still need to separate science and technology. If we talk about doing things with purpose, purpose is technology, not science. Science is your hobby and you will do whatever it takes to figure it out. Therefore, most scientists seem to be "crazy", and few scientists can see the achievements of their research in human society. For example, Maxwell did not know that his equations were so important to human society and that the current wireless world is based on his electromagnetic field theory; Faraday did not know that the current electrified society was derived from his coil frame experiment; Pythagoras also did not expect that he The geometric theory evolved into the germ of calculus….

Scientists are also "ascetics". The process of scientists advancing to the forefront of science is the same as the process of missionaries advancing to Africa. The missionaries who went to Africa suffered very hard. Hundreds of years ago, they could only take small wooden boats from Europe to Africa. It was good if only one person out of 100 could survive. Then from the seaside, we go deep into barren lands and virgin forests, and how many people can survive. Is it possible for him to reverse the process and return to the UK to visit relatives in this life? There is no going back. Devotion is painful but also joyful. Without their piety, Africa cannot be developed now. How can it be developed if the languages are not spoken? Because they spread the language and the language environment in Africa is good, there is a foundation for development.

9. Question: Should there be further collaboration between some research in universities and some research and development within our company to solve technical problems together? Would love to hear your advice on this.

Ren Zhengfei: Research in universities is not directly related to our company's R&D, because universities have to shoulder the mission of universities, which is a very broad concept. We cooperate with universities. Our company only puts in a little something and releases it through the power of universities, giving full play to the role of university scholars. For example, colleges and universities like "noodles", so we put some "MSG" in them.

The second step is to identify some outstanding students, who are our seeds. If his life is really difficult, he can come to our company for an internship during the summer vacation, so that he can have money to pay for tuition. There are also various ways. For example, our competition organizations are carried out all over the world, not just in Chinese universities. We need to attract talents from all over the world to solve some of our problems.

10. Question: I have three feelings: First, it is really tiring for us to do projects with Huawei, because when doing national projects, we usually make annual reports once a year, and when we cooperate with other companies, we make quarterly reports every quarter. Cooperation with Huawei is called weekly reports, and we at Huawei My colleagues couldn’t wait to ask me to do the daily report. Second, this project is really implemented. Third, Huawei’s data protection is really strict. I would like to suggest whether some Huawei-specific data release points can be set up? We come to your door to do some analysis, and you do some physical control; you can also do some desensitization on certain data and remove Huawei's core technologies.

Ren Zhengfei: I don’t understand how “peasants” like Huawei manage their day-to-day life, and whether they still need to blow the “wake-up call”. We say that "a cup of coffee absorbs the energy of the universe." There was a period in the laboratory in 2012 when someone came back for reimbursement and had to write a report on their experience. Inspiration can be found after just one cup of coffee. Look at how naive these managers are. Did he think he was going to have coffee with "God"? How can these chief officials, who have never drank "coffee", manage you professors?

First, in the future, cooperation between our schools and enterprises should be reported every few years. Don't waste time writing reports. Report scientific research to no one but yourself, because science is an endless frontier. We have allocated funds, and you go and study it. Once the study is completed, it will be made public. You can publish papers or write books. There is no need to bring the names of our employees. After all, they already receive high salaries. As long as we understand your paper after reading it, we will start digesting it. After digesting it, we will pass it on to the public, and we will make it into a product and make money. Why should we compete with you for fame?

Second, I am open-minded about data. The network of "Huang Danian Tea House" is connected to our company's network. Through our joint research and cooperation with universities, we can access data on Huawei Cloud through the nearest Tea House. When you need this data to enrich your results, you can apply and we are open for you to download. I believe that opening it up to you is also good for the country. If you use the data for others, it will also promote the progress of society and the country. This is what "Science knows no borders" means.

11. Question: Today I am participating in the event as a question maker. As a question maker, you are not only responsible for concisely publishing difficult questions, but also communicating with external teachers and internal employees. The work is actually quite heavy. As the person who proposed the question, I was not the winner, so no flowers were given by the conference staff. I think that some incentives should also be given to the questioners.

Ren Zhengfei: This bouquet of flowers in front of me is given to you now. It’s really difficult to be a question maker. There will come a time when you can’t come up with questions and your talents will be exhausted. At that time, I really want to send you flowers to encourage you.

The growth path of our scientists: one is to go vertically upward, climbing the "Himalayas" for scientific ideals, the salary is less, but the income must still be decent; the other is to participate in "pig killing" with a "scalpel" In the battle, use the skills you have learned to help us discover existing problems, solve them, and generate commercial value. Based on the value evaluation, maybe you will make more money. If you think you are getting less money, just use your theoretical knowledge to participate in the battle of "killing pigs". The amount of income is related to the value generated by "killing pigs". Can I choose "climbing a mountain" again after "killing the pig"? Okay, this is the Almighty Scientist.

12. Question: After communicating with colleagues in the product line, I found that problems can be discovered and improved through business modeling and computational simulation, so that our products can achieve extremely high quality and minimalist architecture, and can use some less advanced processes to achieve some Advanced systems. Mr. Ren, what guidance does the cutting-edge research on system simulation modeling in the computing industry give us?

Ren Zhengfei: First of all, we would like to thank Zhu Guangping. Zhu Guangping used to be a fellow of the company and has retired. At that time, he proposed that "we want to build the fifth computer in the world." We all laughed at him and thought it was "nonsense." How could we rise in computing products? As you continue to do it, you have proposed to be the second in the world. It seems that you are not willing to be the second in the world recently?

China's social system has its unique advantages. China's high-speed railways, highways, power supply systems, telecommunications systems... infrastructure has been built to the point where no one lives. Without the power of the state to do these things at all costs, farmers would not be able to Get rid of poverty. This is the superiority of socialism. China has proposed the concept of "counting from the east to the west", but the United States cannot do this because the U.S. economy is privately owned. Why can’t the U.S. power grid catch up with China’s power grid stability? The rules of China's power grid are scientific distribution, both in manned and uninhabited areas; while American companies will only deploy sites where they can make money. In particular, our country leads the world in high-voltage direct current transmission, which requires supporting research on thousands of types of equipment and cannot be accomplished without national planning and coordination. The Soviet Union, which started at the same time, failed to do so due to its disintegration. There are more than 60 power grids in the United States, but they cannot be coordinated and implemented. Medium voltage DC drive without transformer will save a lot of space.

Norway is the richest country in the world. Its per capita GDP reached more than 100,000 US dollars more than 20 years ago. However, the population is too dispersed, and no one has built communication infrastructure in rural areas. In some places, you can't watch TV and it's difficult to make a phone call. Therefore, China's superior socialist system will make it possible for China's computing power to rise.

Of course, we cannot be number one yet. The United States is still powerful, because advanced chip manufacturing is still difficult in China. We are using other methods to make up for our lagging behind in chips. We are building a large-scale cloud-based system simulation laboratory in Shengcheng to build our advanced "digital wind tunnel" to speed up the iteration of scientific research through system modeling, analysis, simulation, verification, and optimization. There are many excellent mathematicians and physicists in the local area. You should make full use of them.

13. Question: There are different research departments within the company, such as the 2012 laboratory, product line research department, including various R&D teams directly responsible for the product delivery department. I would like to ask Mr. Ren, how can we achieve better internal technical cooperation, technical competition, and external technical cooperation?

Ren Zhengfei: It is too difficult to divide labor scientifically and rationally. Doesn’t it become a planned economy? There is no such thing as duplication of resources if it is scientifically reasonable. The market economy allows repeated research and waste, which means that everyone has a competitive relationship. In the research of multiple modules, it is possible that small modules will eat up large modules in the competition, then we will recognize the leadership position of small modules and let them integrate resources. The cadre tenure system, the expert rotation system, and the learning platform for everyone to discuss...the "walls" of the department are gradually being torn down. Now we are open to discussion, thinking in discussion, and learning in thinking. Looking at the content of everyone's discussion is also learning.

14. Question: The school’s student assessment orientation is different from our company’s assessment orientation. For example, I was doing purely theoretical research on mechanics in school. After PhDs like us come to the company, most people have to adapt. Some people may adapt in a short time, some may adapt in a long time, and some may not adapt at all. Came here and resigned.

Ren Zhengfei: We are not involved in the reform of the education system. It is too complicated. I once praised Hengshui Middle School. If it cannot change the external environment, it must change the way of victory to adapt to the external environment. Hengshui Middle School has the winning methods of Hengshui Middle School, and Shenzhen Middle School also has the methods of Shenzhen Middle School. Shenzhen’s education model cannot be used to demand the mainland. We all have to agree with the various education models.

Our company has a selection system for employees, not a training system. When students choose whether to come to Huawei, they must consider whether the job is suitable for your interests and hobbies. If it's not suitable, don't come, it's a waste of your youth. We cannot design the destiny of our students. When you join Huawei, you must consider adaptability. You should not just look at the high salary, but also whether the position given to you matches your interests and hobbies, and whether you are willing to contribute here. Huawei cannot accommodate people from all over the world, and it is impossible for people from all over the world to adapt to it.

The company has only one general ideal. Employees cannot ask the company to realize your ideal. You must adapt to this general ideal, join the main force in combat, and play your role. Our main channel will not change. Your cooperation with universities should be broader, narrower for the 2012 laboratory, and even narrower for product research and development. There must be clear long-term indicators.

15. Question: Computers are developing very rapidly now, and there is a new concept every two or three years. If we studied this direction one month ago, a new direction may appear two or three months later, and our research will be out of date. Mr. Ren, how can we keep up with the development of the times? Second, does Mr. Ren have any good suggestions for cultivating talents and guiding students in colleges and universities?

Ren Zhengfei: The iteration speed of computers is much faster than the iteration speed of communication. It is not one generation every two or three years, but two or three months. You have to feel how fast the world is changing. If you cannot access foreign websites, you can experience it on the "Huang Danian Tea Siwu" technology website. Our employees read papers outside and post the content they think is useful; if there is a copyright issue, the index will be extracted and you can find a way to read it yourself. The world will change faster and faster, and the future world will be scary. Yuval Harari said at the Davos Forum that in the future people will be slaves of machines. The conference asked me questions, but I couldn’t answer them. I am relatively ignorant of social issues, so I just said that people’s souls disappear after they die, and what I was talking about was simulating the soul. In fact, the digital soul will not disappear, it is inherited, and AI is subverting our past cognition. Therefore, the changes in human society are unimaginable. If you want to perceive this change, you must read more literature.

I often tell our senior experts, can we work less and read more literature? If we don’t even know the direction, how can we take the right path? If you read the literature and say a few words while drinking coffee, you may inspire the people below. In my youth, 69-year-old American George Hellmeyer invented liquid crystal, and people envisioned a future where a wall would be filled with images. We had not even seen television at that time, so how could we understand the future? Think about how powerful this scientific prediction is! Now even the LCD walls have declined.
