The 2020 Automotive Head-Up Display (HUD) Conference was successfully concluded!
The 2020 Automotive Head-Up Display (HUD) Advanced Technology Exhibition and Exchange Conference was successfully held in Shanghai on September 24 with the strong support of colleagues in the industry.
This conference brought together more than 200 industry veterans from well-known automobile companies, Tier 1, interactive system suppliers, HUD integrators, chip manufacturers, PGU companies, display glass, curved mirrors, optical material suppliers, packaging and testing, scientific research institutes and other related units to discuss topics such as the current status and trends of the HUD head-up display industry, technological breakthroughs and difficulties, new opportunities for future development, and new demands for industry development.
Conference highlights
The conference held a wonderful roundtable discussion workshop on the morning of the 24th. Nearly 70 OEMs, tier 1, and HUD system manufacturers held a lively discussion on topics such as the latest technological cutting-edge trends such as the pre-installed product standard requirements of HUD, the current status and bottleneck analysis of ARHUD-related technologies, the cost of AR HUD, and how HUD can prevent affecting the driving experience. While deepening mutual exchanges, they also had a clearer understanding of the development of industry technology.
Wonderful speech
As the guests signed in one after another, the conference officially began on the afternoon of the 24th. The theme of the afternoon revolved around "The Past, Present and Future of HUD - AR-HUD". First, Ms. Wang Haixu, an analyst of IHS Markit China Automotive Supply Chain and Automotive Technology Forecast, gave a systematic outlook on the future and development trends of the HUD market.
As an outstanding representative of domestic HUD system manufacturers, Future (Beijing) Black Technology Co., Ltd. - FUTURUS was established in 2016. It is a high-tech company focusing on basic innovation and is committed to changing human life through sustainable development innovation.
The company's main business is automotive head-up display (HUD), and its product technology covers consumer-grade HUD, smart HUD, light field augmented reality (AR) HUD, light field panoramic HUD, and holographic imaging. The next topic was a wonderful speech by Xie Fukuan, senior system manager of Future (Beijing) Black Technology Co., Ltd. on the theme of "Exploring the Best Solution for AR HUD".
AR-HUD is a necessary technology in the early stage of autonomous driving applications and will be widely used in autonomous driving in the future. Wu Yingqian, a senior algorithm expert from Zebra Networks, elaborated on the progress of intelligent driving technology based on AR-HUD.
Next, Cao He, director of Shenzhen Jiangcheng Technology Co., Ltd., gave a detailed introduction to the technological evolution and business model evolution of HUD.
Optical waveguide technology can help reduce the size of AR HUD. Yuan Junqi, CEO of Tri-Polar Optoelectronics Technology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., made a wonderful analysis of the global optical waveguide technology path and the advantages and disadvantages of feasible mass-produced optical waveguide solutions for AR-HUD. Yuan's wonderful speech brought the first day of the conference to a successful conclusion.
After the meeting, everyone exchanged their thoughts on the day's conference in the warm atmosphere of the dinner, and ended the day's trip with a lot of gains. The next day, the conference continued with a full-day presentation on the new technology, testing and production process of AR-HUD.
First, Mr. Wang Jianmin, professor and vice dean of the Intelligent Vehicle Interaction Design Laboratory of Tongji University, gave a wonderful presentation on the AR-HUD interaction design and simulation testing in intelligent driving scenarios.

Mr. Yuan Guohang, Business Development Manager of Texas Instruments China, will introduce how Texas Instruments DLP® technology continues to enable automotive augmented reality head-up displays and innovative applications.
Next, Mr. Cui Wenliang, Senior Product Manager of Harman International, will bring you the future prospects of AR HUD and an introduction to Harman AR technology.
Fujian Fulan Optics Co., Ltd. has always focused on the research and development and manufacturing of optical products. Various high-precision optical components designed and developed according to customer needs are widely used in automobiles , security, consumer electronics and other fields. Lin Minfang, marketing director of Fujian Fulan Optics Co., Ltd., brought you the optical intelligent manufacturing technology and application of HUD free-form mirrors.
Currently, if HUD wants to be imaged on the car windshield, it must use specially designed optical glass. The key lies in the wedge-shaped PVB interlayer. Dr. Pan Yong, Application Development Manager of Eastman Solutia Interlayer, one of the leading companies in the automotive PVB product market, gave a speech on how PVB wedge film helps optimize HUD imaging effects.
Shanghai Fuzhan Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. is a technology research and development company focusing on the design, consulting, measurement, evaluation and implementation of safe light, healthy light and comfortable light. The company has more than 16 years of rich experience in practical technology research and development.
Next, Mr. Shen Chunming, a senior optical engineer at Shanghai Fuzhan Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd., will share the optical inspection methods in HUD quality control.
With the development of AR-HUD, as automotive products are becoming software-defined, the technical difficulties of AR-HUD products are increasingly concentrated in the algorithm part. As the world's leading intelligent visual algorithm provider, ArcSoft has accumulated more than 20 years of experience in the field of visual AI algorithms and has a large number of underlying visual AI algorithms. Chen Feng, Director of Ecology and Strategic Cooperation of ArcSoft Technology Co., Ltd., gave a wonderful speech on how ArcSoft's visual technology empowers AR HUD.
Opus is a world-leading MEMS laser scanning chip technology company and one of the few companies with 2D raster scanning and high-definition resolution laser scanning projection solutions. It focuses on providing MEMS intelligent visual sensing solutions. Regarding MEMS laser scanning projection technology, Chen Bingqian, Corporate Development Director of Shenzhen Core Vision Microsystem Technology Co., Ltd., shared with everyone the application of high-definition resolution MEMS laser scanning projection technology in AR HUD.
Finally, Mr. Chen from Fuyao Glass introduced the new nano-film HUD windshield technology to everyone, which brought the entire conference to a close.
