Microchip launches the industry’s first USB 3.1 SmartHub for in-car use supporting Type-C™

As automakers continue to add more features to cars and integrate with mobile apps, USB needs to be powerful and faster for reliable data transfer. Although vehicles handle multiple functions at the same time, from transferring map data to playing music to interacting with the user interface, consumers still expect infotainment systems to respond instantly. USB 3.1's 5 Gb/s SuperSpeed ​​data transfer rate ensures higher bandwidth and optimal performance for applications that require gigabit transfer rates, resulting in faster data streaming, data downloads, and in-car communications. The USB7002 combines the technical advantages of USB 3.1 with the increasingly popular USB Type-C, enabling direct USB Type-C connection through a native configuration channel (CC) pin interface and an integrated 2:1 multiplexer, thus supporting the reversible connection function of the USB Type-C connector.

These basic features enable the mobile phone's graphical user interface to be displayed on the in-vehicle screen and can be integrated with voice commands in the car while charging the mobile device.
