How to calculate the copper foil thickness of PCB prototype board? Just use a formula!

Copper clad prototype board - copper foil thickness
The thickness of the copper foil on the prototype board is listed in the "Material" filter condition. For example, in the common option "Copper-clad FR4, single-sided, 1 oz", 1 oz indicates the thickness of the copper foil.
It is defined as: 1 oz copper foil is evenly spread on 1 square foot (ft
2
) of the prototype board to achieve the corresponding thickness. In other words:
1 oz = 28.35 g/ ft2
Copper foil density = 8.93 g/cm 3
1 square foot = 929.03 cm2
Therefore, 1 oz copper foil thickness = 28.35/8.93/929.03 ≈ 35 um or 1.35 mil
Common PCB thicknesses include the following sizes:
1/2 oz = (17.5um), 1 oz = (35um), 2 oz = (70um) and 3 oz = (105um)
The board thickness listed in this post is the combined thickness of the copper foil and FR4 (epoxy glass cloth laminate).
