The Electronic Design Innovation Conference (EDICON China) Shanghai Station will be held on July 22-23 at the Boya Hotel in Shanghai. The Electronic Design Innovation Conference provides design engineers and system integrators with the latest RF/microwave and high-speed digital products and technology information for today's communications, computing, RFID, wireless, navigation, aerospace and related markets.

Ben Gu, Vice President of Cadence and General Manager of the System Simulation Division



▶ Introduction to the keynote speaker: As the head of Cadence's multi-physics system analysis business unit, Mr. Ben Gu is responsible for the research and development, product engineering and product verification of all Cadence system-level products, including the recently acquired NUMECA CFD products, and the recent Introduced Clarity 3D Solver field solver, Celsius Thermal Solver thermal solver, as well as Sigrity, Voltus and ESD products.


In addition, he is responsible for related product development strategies and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to this role, Ben held leadership roles on multiple R&D teams at Cadence since 2012, including Voltus, Clarity, Sigrity, and others. Ben holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and a master's degree in electrical engineering from Pennsylvania State University.


▶ Speech summary: 5G deployment will soon become widespread around the world, and the industry is rapidly building the basic technology to achieve the increase in bandwidth. Additionally, 6G designs are underway. However, 5G design already presents insurmountable challenges and there is an urgent need for new design and analysis methods and tools. From RF III-V MMICs and mmWave IC chips, to packages and PCBs, every component and integrated system interacts more than ever before.


Component co-design and full-system EM simulation are now mandatory requirements to ensure circuit functionality and reliability. To address these challenges, you need full-flow tools covering IC, packaging, and PCB for integrated design and analysis, and you must use cloud services to extend to the entire system.

▶ Speaker profile: Wan Zhilong is the chief application engineer of Cadence's AWR products. He is responsible for technical promotion and support of the Cadence AWR product family, providing solutions to customers in wireless communications, consumer electronics, defense science and engineering, radar, test and measurement, and automotive applications. He has extensive industry experience and technical accumulation in RF and microwave applications.


▶ Speech summary: Gallium nitride (GaN ) semiconductor technology plays an important role in the evolving 5G and satellite communications RF and microwave applications. Supporting GaN power amplifier (PA ) design flows, analysis, and models is critical to successful product development. Cadence software provides MMIC and RFIC design solutions based on leading foundry PDKs, along with state-of-the-art analysis tools to ensure design success the first time. This talk focuses on key requirements for GaN MMIC PA design and simulation software.

Speaker profile: Zhang Haidong is a product engineer in the Multiphysics System Analysis (MSA) Division of Cadence. He has nearly 10 years of experience in the SI/PI field and now focuses on supporting Sigrity/Clarity products. Mr. Zhang received a bachelor's degree in radio physics from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China in 2009 and a master's degree in electromagnetic fields and microwaves from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2012.
