Let’s take a look: What does Amphenol’s new generation ix Industrial™ industrial Ethernet connector look like?

Amphenol is pleased to announce the launch of the ix Industrial ™ series connectors in collaboration with Hirose Electric and Harting Technology Group.

Compliant with IEC 61076-3-124, ix Industrial™ is designed to meet the next generation of high-speed, rugged Industrial Ethernet requirements and is ideal for factory and process automation, machine-to-machine communications, robotics, sensors, human interface devices, and all devices requiring Ethernet IIoT connectivity in highly automated industrial environments.

“This product was developed to anticipate opportunities and meet customer needs,” said Peter Swift, director of product marketing for Amphenol Commercial Products Americas. “It is a feature-rich, mechanically robust 10-position connector capable of Category 6A performance in a package that is 30% smaller than the typical RJ45 connector used today in many Industrial Ethernet applications. ”

A 10-position connector that complies with the IEC 61076-3-124 standard and has Cat6A performance, the ix Industrial™ is 70% smaller in size than a typical RJ45 connector. It features a 10mm pitch connector, a rugged 2-point metal latch, and a 360-degree shielded cover for EMI protection to meet the needs of new higher density Industrial Ethernet communication designs.

Amphenol’s ix Industrial ™ family of products interconnects with the Hirose and Harting ix Industrial ™ family of interconnect products and is designed to meet the growing demands of Industry 4.0 and cloud-to-plant-floor Ethernet connectivity.

Amphenol offers right angle and vertical PCB mount receptacles with multiple keying options, as well as field-mateable termination plugs for easy field installation. Available versions include IP20 products for MICE1 environments, and IP67 versions for MICE2 and MICE3 harsh environments.
