The 18th Annual Conference of Deans (Dean of Department) of Electronic Information Colleges of Chinese Universities and the First National Conference on the Construction of Electronic Information Disciplines of Universities were held at Tsinghua University in Beijing from August 16 to 18, 2024. As a co-exhibitor of this conference, Avnet exhibited a variety of solutions based on the AMD FPGA platform for application fields such as scientific computing, industrial vision and edge AI.
MicroBlaze V is a soft-core processor based on the 32-bit RISC-V open standard instruction set architecture. During this event, Avnet exhibited two innovative designs based on MicroBlaze V, which attracted the attention of many visitors.
MicroBlaze V demo 1
Powerful peripheral expansion function
This demo shows how MicroBlaze V can expand I/O capabilities through the PMOD interface on the Spartan 7 SP701 FPGA Evaluation Kit. With the help of AXI standard interface IP, it successfully integrates multiple devices such as LEDs, OLED displays, accelerometers, brightness sensors, and temperature sensors, fully demonstrating its powerful peripheral expansion capabilities.
MicroBlaze V demo 2
Assisting high safety design for industrial applications
This demo is based on the Avnet AUBoard-15P evaluation board (www.avnet.me/auboard-15p), whose main chip is the AU15P of the AMD Artix UltraScale+ FPGA series. This demo shows the high-security design of the triple-mode redundant MicroBlazeV for industrial applications: in the event of an abnormality in a single core, the other two cores can still keep the equipment running normally and issue a warning to notify the staff to handle it in time.
Other demos
Advanced Vision Application Development
The demo is based on KV260 (AMD Kria
™
KV260 Vision AI Starter Kit), which implements face recognition detection and result display, as well as video encoding/decoding (H.264/H.265) streaming. KV260 is a development platform based on Kria K26 SOMs, which allows users to develop advanced visual applications without complex hardware design.
At this conference, Avnet and AMD fully demonstrated to the participating university leaders and experts and scholars the outstanding achievements of AMD's embedded platform in promoting the development of scientific computing, wireless communications, artificial intelligence and edge computing.
In the future, Avnet will continue to deepen cooperation with universities, research institutions and the industry to jointly explore the unlimited potential of FPGA technology. At the same time, we are also well aware that the development of FPGA technology is inseparable from the support and training of talents. Therefore,
Avnet has formed a team of experts with rich practical experience and launched a comprehensive and systematic FPGA course plan,
dedicated to contributing to the training of Chinese FPGA talents, thereby promoting the sustainable development of the global electronic information industry.
In addition,
Avnet's FPGA training class is in full swing.
This will be a learning journey that will benefit you a lot! The teaching mode of famous teachers' explanations + practical exercises will allow you to quickly master the entire FPGA design process! Don't miss this opportunity! Come to Avnet's mini program to sign up~
