Do you know how popular cars have become in recent years?

In the past, if you wanted to see a car, you had to wait for a car show.

Nowadays, if you want to see cars, electronics exhibitions can satisfy you.

Especially in the recent electronics exhibitions, automobile-related exhibits completely occupied the C position of the exhibition and attracted the most attention. Some people joked that the electronics exhibition should simply be changed to an auto show.

A brief analysis of the reasons behind it is undoubtedly that under the wave of intelligence, electrification, and digitalization, a series of technologies such as autonomous driving and smart cockpits require almost the entire semiconductor industry to be fully integrated with them. As a senior solution provider in the semiconductor industry, ADI has been exploring the future of automotive technology for many years, and has a deep accumulation of relevant high-quality solutions. It is not difficult to get a glimpse of these from several automotive technology solutions recently exhibited by ADI.

Lithium-ion battery energy storage solutions

As the proportion of renewable power generation increases, energy storage systems are critical to stabilizing the power grid. It is expected that the annual deployment of renewable power generation will increase sixfold by 2030. ADI launches a complete lithium-ion battery energy storage battery management system (BMS), including high-precision BMS, reliable isolation communication, and MCU hardware and software. It contains multiple interfaces (isoSPI™, SPI, I 2 C, CAN, USB-C) and enables a stacked battery monitoring architecture.

Wireless Battery Management System (wBMS)

ADI's wireless battery management system (wBMS) is a solution customized for the high reliability and low latency requirements of automotive battery management systems, eliminating the mechanical challenges and costs of traditional wired harness systems and meeting the industry's stringent safety requirements , while providing OEMs with ultra-high flexibility to achieve mass production of electric vehicles. At the same time, the wBMS network also provides a solid connection for cell monitoring and balance current control in electric vehicles or other large energy storage systems.

GMSL driving future display development

ADI GMSL serializers and deserializers (SerDes) provide simultaneous high-resolution video, audio transmission and control over a single STP or coaxial cable. GMSL infotainment display ICs provide flexibility for use across all video interfaces, providing automotive connectivity, enhanced functional security and encryption, and EMC/EMI performance while automatically compensating for cable aging and temperature changes over the lifetime of the vehicle.

12.3” Micro Mini LED Local Dimming Display

The use of new technologies in car cockpits means that the size and scope of car cockpit displays increase. Therefore, improving display quality and energy-saving performance is very necessary for electric vehicles. Local dimming is an effective way to have a high-contrast display, is more competitively priced compared to OLED, and can save up to 50% of power since there are many black dots on the HMI screen. This demonstration is a 12.3" local dimming display integrating 1536 micro-LEDs, using the MAX25500, which can save up to 50% power and reduce more than 1000 nits.

exterior lighting

Animated lighting gives the new car a unique style and highlights its personality. Dazzling light effects are quite complex and require the use of more LEDs, each of which needs to be controlled individually. ADI's 4 × 24 automotive LED matrix driver MAX25630 controls the largest number of LEDs on the market with a single device, capable of driving up to 96 LEDs.

Multi-turn position detection

The ADMT4000 is the first integrated, power-on multi-turn position sensor in electric power steering (EPS) steer-by-wire applications. This sensor solution enables steering system suppliers to reduce the size, weight and cost of steering actuators and eliminate the need to continuously power the steering system during shutdown.

Electric vehicle traction inverter

The isolated gate driver is one of the key components of the inverter system, and ADI can provide scalable solutions that cover performance to programmable gate drivers to help designers strike a balance between various SWaP-C considerations. In addition, certified iCoupler isolation barrier drivers can play a key role in traction inverters, while also enabling key improvements in vehicle battery storage systems, ensuring longer time between charges, enabling fast charging and battery storage .

E 2 B - Simplifying 10BASE-T1S connection to terminals

ADI E 2 B technology enables 10BASE-T1S Ethernet connectivity to end sensor and driver nodes without the need for a microcontroller in the end node. Additionally, how a partitioned architecture with Ethernet connectivity via centralized software to end nodes across all hardware clearly supports software-defined vehicles.
