Aiming at the complex nonlinear system of highway traffic, a traffic incident detection algorithm based on counter-propagation network is proposed. The structure and learning algorithm of the counter-propagation network are explained, the basis of event detection is given, and the input parameters of the network are reasonably selected. The simulation study is carried out using the sample data provided by the highway management department. The simulation results show that the event detection algorithm has the advantages of fast learning speed, good generalization ability, high detection accuracy, and short average detection time, and has good application prospects.
