The rated output current of the 78 series integrated voltage regulator is 1.5A.
If a larger output current is required, the method of expanding the output current can be used
. The best way to expand the output current is to
use integrated voltage regulators of the same type in parallel and connect the same electrodes. In addition,
you can also use an external high-power adjustment tube, as
shown in Figure 7-200. The flow expander tube is a high-power
tube with PNP polarity, which
forms a composite tube with the NPN adjustment tube in the integrated voltage regulator.
Ri in the figure is the voltage regulator bias current discharge resistor. Its size will determine the minimum output current
of the voltage regulator .
