A MECL 10K crystal oscillator and a MECL III frequency multiplier can be combined into a high-speed oscillator, as shown in the figure. The MC10101 acts as part of a 100MHz crystal oscillator in series with the transistor in the feedback loop. The liquid crystal oscillation circuit can tune the 100MHz harmonics of the transistor and can also be used to calibrate the circuit to a certain frequency.
