If you have a 4WD off-road vehicle, you can travel Sichuan-Tibet, Qinghai-Tibet, Gansu and Shaanxi if you have no problem with your skills and physical condition. If you have a sedan, you can consider traveling to Hubei and Shaanxi.

I've been there but not on a self-driving tour. I went with a tour group. I went to two major tourist spots in Lijiang and Dali. I checked in.
